Environmental Education

The Fujifilm Group promotes environmental education to provide all employees of the Fujifilm Group, in Japan and overseas, with an in-depth awareness of basic knowledge regarding the environment, which is fundamental to environmental activities, and the Fujifilm Group Green Policy.

General Curriculum for All Employees

General environmental education in Japan, focused on e-learning programs, was completed in fall 2005 for employees of Fujifilm and other Fujifilm Group companies. For employees of Group companies overseas, general environmental education began in mid-2005 for all staff, and about 6,700 employees are scheduled to finish this course by June 2006. In conducting training overseas, one of the issues is the language used in the educational materials. Thus far, we have completed texts in English, Chinese, German, Portuguese and Spanish. We are now preparing versions in Dutch and French.
In 2005, we completed a revised version of our domestic e-learning system with upgraded functions that includes a new system with environmental education texts incorporating the latest information. This system went online in May 2006. Looking forward, we plan to have all Group companies switch to the new textbooks and continue to make improvements and upgrades in the content of the course and educational systems. Through these educational activities, we want each and every staff member throughout the world to have a good environmental awareness and thereby strengthen our foundation for implementing initiatives for addressing environmental issues.

Curriculum for Environmental Specialists

Educational programs for specialists who require in-depth knowledge and capabilities in their work offered in fiscal 2005 included courses on life cycle assessment (LCA), management of chemical content, and waste management. These courses were offered a total of 18 times, and a total of 471 staff from Group companies attended. The curriculum for fiscal 2006 focuses on LCA-related issues, and plans call for continuing training for an expanding group of environmental specialists.
