Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. announces it will be demonstrating its RGB Digital Master workflow for print at drupa 2004.

FUJIFILM is demonstrating a range of technologies at drupa that will highlight the many advantages FUJIFILM can bring to an RGB workflow for print.

There are many flaws in how digital RGB images are submitted to a print workflow, the main problem being that digital RGB images have no visual reference as to what the photographer intended the image to look like. This can lead to false expectations and costly rework.

A key technology on show is the RGB Digital Master. This is a controlled way in which to standardise and communicate colour images. Traditionally images have been communicated in prepress production as media that will be scanned such as colour film or colour prints. With the boom in digital photography, a replacement workflow is required to provide the same quality and control for digital RGB images, this is what a RGB Digital Master Print brings to the workflow.

The overall benefits of FUJIFILM’s new technologies are improved quality control and significant cost savings. A certified Digital Master Print takes the guesswork out of how a digital image should appear in print, and FUJIFILM’s Image Intelligence™ will automate the process of improving poor quality images. Current manual methods of individually editing digital images are too slow, and too costly.

“Image Intelligence™ is a FUJIFILM imaging technology that has been evolved over the past 70 years in FUJIFILM products mainly for the photographic industry, and has now been applied for the first time to a prepress workflow” commented John Davies, Software Business Manager of FUJIFILM Electronic Imaging Ltd.
