In step with progress in television broadcasting, FUJINON lenses successively take on the challenges of developing new technologies such as the world's most powerful (*) 101x zoom lens and the world's first hi-vision lens. Starting with the 44x zoom lens in 1983, we have developed a 101x zoom lens, the most powerful in the world. We have now arrived at the point where we are known as FUJINON with the zoom lenses.
Chromatic aberration is the distortion of colors when they pass through the lens. With high-powered zoom lenses, color blurring also occurs. For broadcast TV lenses, we have succeeded in suppressing a range of color aberration in the entire field of view for the zoom lens by using optical technologies honed over many years. In the field of hi-vision lenses, we have also made it possible to deliver excellent color reproduction and high image quality even with high-powered zooms.
We have applied our technology developed in broadcast lens over the years to the cinema lens. In order to achieve the clearness of image beyond the former level, we have brought together techniques of FUJINON lens. FUJINON cine lenses are supporting many major films all over the world, including in Hollywood.
For approximately one year the orbiting satellite Kaguya observed the whole area of the moon in the first genuine probe since the Apollo project. To understand the conditions on the moon clearly and accurately, the orbiter was equipped with three types of satellite optics lenses.
The impact at the time of the launch, zero gravity, intense temperature differences… Space is a harsh environment for FUJINON lenses. Even so, the highly durable ultra-precision lenses had been reliable in delivering images of the state of the surface of the moon to the Earth.
Never before seen by mankind, the condition on the surface of the moon was depicted in its true light by three types of FUJINON lenses. The high-resolution terrain camera lens capable of discerning objects of 10m visualized the surface of the moon in 3D. It was instrumental in studying the terrain of the moon as a whole.
By showing color variations across the surface of the moon, the multi band imager lens with its clear image quality supported the study of rock distribution.
In addition, the hi-vision camera lens developed in collaboration with NHK provided clear depictions of the Earth in high quality images. Even in space, FUJINON lenses were working to study the world of the unknown.
Ahead of other companies, FUJINON lenses have pioneered the use of EBC coating for its lenses to increase the transmission of light. Keeping down reflection and capturing more light, the proprietary coating technology has created a lens capable of bright and clear vision even at night and into the corners of the field of vision. With a picture performance that captures the distance, the lens is also loaded on large binoculars to support the discovery of comets.

The FUJINON lenses mounted in binoculars use eco-glass that was developed with consideration to the environment. The design for all binoculars is also completely waterproof so that they can be used at night and at sea. The excellent waterproofing and the sturdy structure facilitate use under a range of conditions.
