FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigetaka Komori) is delighted to announce that its C-fit Image Intelligence color conversion software has received the 2007 PIA ⁄ GATF InterTech Technology Award, one of the most prestigious awards of the printing industry in America.*1 Given as recognition for innovative technologies incorporated in new products, this year's award honors two highly acclaimed technologies used in FUJIFILM’s C-fit software: Rapidly Automatic Color Enhancement Technology that automatically enhances the color tone in digital images, and Intelligent Color Conversion Technology that optimizes image data to suit the output devices being used.

Amidst the surge in digital data that has accompanied the fast spread of digital cameras, wide disparities in quality have arisen in image data to be printed, due in part to variations among the digital cameras used for shooting. As a result, the manual correction of color has become an increasingly large burden for firms engaged in commercial and publication printing.

The C-fit color-conversion software was developed to address this problem. C-fit incorporates FUJIFILM’s Image Intelligence™ technologies*2, developed over the years for the processing of images in a variety fields such as photography and medicine. The two technologies incorporated in Image Intelligence™— Rapidly Automatic Color Enhancement Technology and Intelligent Color Conversion Technology — allow C-fit to enhance the color of digital images and convert RGB to CMYK ⁄ CMYK to CMYK, both automatically and at very fast speeds.

The C-fit software, of which 500 units have already been sold in Japan, has received critical praise for its ability to reduce the labor involved in color correction work and to easily produce final data for printing. The C-fit software will be featured at Graph Expo 2007, America’s largest exhibition of printing-related equipment and supplies (September 9 to 12, 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago) and at IGAS 2007, the largest international exhibition in Japan of printing-related equipment and supplies (September 21 to 27, 2007 at Tokyo Big Sight).
