The most typical type of the FUJI DRI-CHEM system is characterized by the slides having several functional layers to generate the quantitative chemical reaction in the film. The reaction takes place immediately after spotting 10 microliter of the sample onto the spreading layer. |

Quantitative analysis of the dry chemistry slide is done by measurement of the reflection density from the transparent support side. In most cases, the incident light is passed through an optical filter to obtain a certain fixed wavelength, then the reflected light from the dry chemistry slide is introduced into the photodiode. White board and black board are often measured by the same way for calibration. |

In case of measuring electrolytes such as sodium (Na), potassium (K) or chloride (Cl), ion selective electrode method is used. For quantitative analysis of the electrolytes, potentiometric difference between the two electrodes retaining reference liquid with known concentration of the electrolytes on the one side and the unknown sample on the other side is measured. |

In case of the endpoint slides, reflection density at the fixed time point after spotting the sample is measured and converted into the concentration of the analyte by a calibration curve. This method is typical in the case of measuring general chemistry parameters. |

In case of measuring enzyme parameters, changes of reflection density between two time points are measured and converted to the enzyme activity in the sample by a certain formula. |
