Report on Cine Gear Expo 2011 (U.S.A.)

July 29, 2011

The Cine Gear Expo 2011, the largest and most important annual tradeshow for the motion picture industry in the US, was held June 3-4 at The Paramount Studio, Los Angeles. The show is widely known as the paramount exhibition of outdoor shooting equipment, and the first day, which was held from 4 pm to 10 pm, enabled visitors to experience new devices and equipment used for night shooting. This proved extremely popular with camera operators and production staff.

The FUJIFILM booth highlighted the new ETERNA Vivid 250D film and the RDS recording film for optimal use with black and white archive film. We also showed a demonstration movie of Vivid 250D produced by Gabriel Beristain, ASC, BSC, at the Paramount Theater.

The Portable On-site Grading Tool "CCBox (provisional name)*," which was originally announced at the NAB 2011 in April, was shown at FUJIFILM North America Corp. Optical Devices Division (FNAC OD). Demonstrations of the CCBox showed the tool's capability in successfully adjusting the colors of three different types of monitor and an i-Pad all connected to a Sony F35 camera. Several Directors of Photography were hugely impressed with the CCBox and appeared to be eagerly awaiting its market launch.

The powerful FUJINON Premier PL 4K+ zoom lens was demonstrated with Sony F35 camera at FNAC OD booth. Known as the highest performance zoom lens with a capability of surpassing a 4K resolution, the lens has been designed for use with both motion picture film and digital cinema cameras and was very well received by exhibition visitors.

  • * CCBox is intended as a FUJIFILM Corporation project name only.
