FinePix HDP-L1 Firmware Update Ver.2.11

Preparation

  1. 1.Prepare the target HD player.
    • FinePix HD player HDP-L1 (Version 2.10 or lower)
  2. 2.Prepare a formatted Memory Card (SD Memory Card)
    • Refer to the HDP-L1 Owner's Manual for information on using "FORMAT" in the SET-UP menu to format a memory card.
    • Note that the formatting procedure will delete all data on the memory card, including protected files. Always copy any important files that you do not want to lose to your PC beforehand.
  3. 3.Prepare power supply.
    • Prepare the AC adaptor bundled with the HD player.
  4. 4.Prepare the USB cable and the HDMI cable.
    • Prepare the USB cable (commercially available)and the HDMI cable (commercially available)

Check the firmware version

Connect the AC power adapter with the HD player.
Connect the HD Player with the HDTV through the HDMI cable.
Turn on the HDTV.
Insert a blank formatted memory card in the HD player.
Turn on you're the HD player while holding down the [DISP/BACK] button.
The number displayed on the screen is the player's "CURRENT" firmware version.

After checking the firmware version, press the [MENU/OK] button and then turn off the HD player.

  • *The firmware version of the HD player is lower than "2.11", please proceed next step 2).
    If the version is the same or higher than "2.11", you do not need to upgrade the HD player.

How to use this updater

STEP1 Download the firmware upgrade onto your PC.

Downloaded files must be put on desk top of your PC.
If the file size does not match the figures given above, download the firmware update file again.

STEP2 Copy "FPUPDATE.DAT" to the memory card.

  1. 1.Connect the HD Player with the PC through the USB cable.
  2. 2.Connect the AC power adapter with the HD player.
    * Even for connecting with the PC, AC power adapter must be used for the power source. Check the owner's manual.
  3. 3.Insert the formatted SD memory card unto the media slot of the HD player.
  4. 4.Turn on the HD player. Then the SD memory card slot will be shown as the new drive in your PC.
  5. 5.Copy the downloaded file named "FPUPDATE.DAT" into the memory card.
  6. 6.After completion of copying, turn off the HD player.
  7. 7.Remove USB cable from the HD player. and the PC.

This completes the copying procedure of the firmware update to the memory card.
For the next step, keep the memory card containing the copied firmware update in the HD player.

STEP3 Update the firmware.

Check the memory card containing the copied firmware update into the HD player.
Confirm the AC power adapter is connected with the HD player.
Connect the HD Player with the HDTV through the HDMI cable.
Turn on the HDTV.
<NOTE> Please ensure USB cable is removed. If USB cable is connected with the HD player, nothing is displayed on the HDTV.

1. Turn on your the HD player while holding down the [DISP/BACK] button.

Press the [OK] button.

2.Select "OK".

Press the [OK] button.

3.Press the [OK] button.

4.Press the [OK] button.

The firmware updating has started.

It takes about 10 seconds for completing the firmware update.

5.When this screen appears, the firmware update has been successfully completed.

6. Turn the player off.

STEP4 Check the upgraded firmware.

Following the procedure in step 1) "Check the firmware version," confirm the current firmware version.
