X-E1 Camera Body Firmware Update Ver.1.05

Preparing for updates

Confirmation of each firmware version

  1. 1.To enable more accurate AF performance with XF35mm lens, please update the firmware of your Fujinon XF35mm lens at the same time. Firmware version must be Ver 2.02 or later.
  2. 2.Please confirm the firmware version of XF lenses (XF18mmF2 R / XF60mmF2.4 R Macro) is Ver 2.01.or later.
  3. 3.Please confirm the firmware version of XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS is Ver 1.01 or later.
    For confirming firmware version of the lens, please access the following page to find appropriate procedure.

Preparation

  1. 1.Prepare the target digital camera.
    • X-E1 (Version 1.03 or former)
  2. 2.Prepare a formatted memory card.
    • The firmware updating procedure requires a formatted memory card. Refer to the Owner's Manual for information on using "FORMAT" in the SET-UP menu to format a media.
    • Note that formatting procedure will delete all data on the memory card, including protected files. Always copy any important files that you do not want to lose to your PC beforehand.
  3. 3.Prepare the power supply.

    Use the fully-charged battery.

  • Whole update procedure is similar to that for X-E1. Then, please see the data just for your reference.
  • (Both the model name and updater file name are different from those of X-E1.)

Firmware version checking procedure

Insert a blank formatted media in the camera. Turn on your "Camera" while holding down the [DISP/BACK] button. The number will displayed "CURRENT" showing the camera's current firmware version.

After checking the firmware version, press the [MENU/OK] button and then turn off your camera.

How to use this updater

STEP1 Download the firmware onto your PC.

You can download the firmware using the "Downloading the firmware upgrade" link on.

Downloaded files must be put on desk top of your PC.
If the file size does not match the figures given above, download the firmware update file again.

STEP2 Copy "FWUP0001.DAT" to the memory card

  1. 1.Insert a memory card formatted by the camera into your card reader.
  2. 2.Copy the "FWUP0001.DAT" file downloaded in step 1) onto the root directory of the memory card.
  3. 3.Remove the memory card from the card reader and insert it into the camera.

STEP3 Update the firmware.

Check the memory card containing the copied firmware update into the camera.
Always use fully-charged battery when updating the firmware.
(The screenshot is an example of firmware upgrade from version 1.00 to version 1.10)

1. Turn the camera on while holding down the [BACK] button, while XF lens is not attached to the camera body.

*This screen appears regardless of whether the AC adapter is already connected or not.
When this screen appears, press the [OK] button.

2. After confirming the item as [BODY] to update the camera body, press [OK] button.

3. Press the [OK] button to go to next step.

4. Press the [UP button] to select "OK".

5. Press the [OK] button.

6. Press the [OK] button.

The firmware updating is started.

It takes approximately 90 seconds for completing the firmware update.

7. When this screen appears, the firmware update has been successfully completed.

8. Turn the camera off

STEP4 Check the upgraded firmware.

By following the above procedure "Firmware version checking procedure", you can see the firmware version.

Cf. The media used for the firmware update should be reformatted before you use it for taking pictures again.
