Community Programs

We work with local residents to carry out projects that benefit communities around the world.

Environmental education for young people

The global environment can be improved if Fujifilm and local residents do their part and work together. The Manaus Plant of our Fujifilm do Brasil Ltda. subsidiary is an example. Between 2004 and 2007, the plant held 17 environmental awareness programs in the local community, with the participation of 581 young people. The educational programs taught basic environmental concepts such as pollution, waste reduction, water conservation and energy efficiency.

Funding for a park and streetcars

Fujifilm Manufacturing Europe B.V. contributed 50,000 euros to construction of a national park near its headquarters in Tilburg, The Netherlands. The contribution will go toward building a pleasant promenade through the park. The park is scheduled to be completed in 2010. On the company's 25th anniversary in 2007, it gave an additional 50,000 euros to fund five of the 25 streetcars planned to be introduced in Tilburg.

Sponsoring a field trip for schoolchildren

The Dayton Factory of Fujifilm Hunt Chemicals U.S.A., Inc. sponsors a class trip to the state capitol for fifth graders of Graysville Elementary School every year. Students also receive T-shirts and Fujifilm QuickSnap single-use cameras. Employees at the plant sponsor and judge a photo contest for photographs taken by children during the trip. In 2007, children were invited to the factory for a tour, and photo contest winners received gift certificates and framed prints of their photographs.
