Zero Emissions Target

Our Fujifilm Hunt Chemicals Europe NV subsidiary in Belgium has maintained zero emissions since 2000. It has also developed comprehensive recycling and inventory management policies to help avoid the need for waste disposal of chemical products. Slow moving chemical products are repurposed through recycling processes (detailed below) before they reach their expiration dates.

Recycling details

  • Shrink foils, paper, cardboard, wood, and metal scraps are recycled.
  • All plastics, 60-liter drums, and IBC containers are sent to a recycling company and then put on the market for re-use.
  • Photographic chemicals are used to cut nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the combustion process of cement production by serving as a reducing reagent. Some chemicals can be used as supplemental energy sources.
  • Components, including contaminated used bags for wrapping, are incinerated as fuel to save energy.
