FUJIFILM Business Innovation offers the Remote Image Quality Diagnostics system as part of our efforts to stabilize the output image quality of multifunction devices and production printers. With Remote Image Quality Diagnostics, the diagnostics system automatically analyzes image quality based on the image data of diagnostic charts sent by customers. Customer engineers then utilize these analysis results in maintenance work to ensure stable image quality and reliable machine operation (Fig. 1).
Diagnostic charts scanned by the image scanning devices of multifunction devices and production printers are transmitted to our Remote Image Quality Diagnostics system via the network. During transmission, only the image data of the diagnostic chart—which has a QR code specific to Remote Image Quality Diagnostics printed on it—is sent, ensuring that customer document images are never transmitted unintentionally. Additionally, communication with the Remote Image Quality Diagnostics system is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS) (Fig. 2). Communication is always initiated by the multifunction device or printer; the system never initiates communication.
Upon receiving the diagnostic chart, the Remote Image Quality Diagnostics system performs advanced image analysis using our SIQA*1 diagnostic technology. It uses proprietary algorithms to verify the status of color, density, and tone reproduction—the fundamental elements of image quality—and automatically identifies the likely cause of image quality defects (Fig. 3).

Based on the system’s diagnostic results, a customer engineer prepares the optimal corrective action before visiting the customer site to resolve image quality issues promptly, thereby minimizing the impact on the customer’s operations.
Furthermore, by accumulating and evaluating diagnostic results and maintenance records over time, the system enables the regular implementation of optimal maintenance actions for each machine, contributing to stable image quality.
