Tokyo, April 16, 2026 – FUJIFILM Business Innovation announces that it will launch an AI Chat function on its cloud service “FUJIFILM IWpro” on April 17. This feature supports the search and utilization of document information accumulated within companies.
FUJIFILM IWpro is a cloud service that supports the entire workflow from document capture to data extraction, editing, and output. It enables collaboration by consolidating necessary documents and information within a cloud-based workspace according to tasks or projects, allowing sharing and editing among relevant parties.
The AI Chat function enables the AI to search across documents created and stored within the workspace, providing summarized responses along with links to the relevant sections within the source documents. Users can simply post their questions in the chat, and then they will be able to review the contents of multiple documents at once, thereby reducing the time and effort required for information discovery and promoting the utilization of accumulated knowledge and expertise within the organization.
In recent years, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)*1 has gained attention as a mechanism for leveraging documents and knowledge accumulated within companies. This feature also employs RAG technology, where AI generates responses based on documents within the workspace, thereby mitigating the risk of hallucination—the generation of incorrect information—inherent to generative AI. This enables confident use even in tasks demanding accuracy, supporting reliable decision-making grounded in the accumulated expertise within the organization.

The AI Chat function can be easily started by simply storing documents in a workspace. When users post questions about information they need in the chat, the AI interprets the intent of the query. It then automatically generates appropriate search criteria and performs a cross-document search across workspaces where documents are stored by purpose. This enables high-precision information retrieval tailored to the specific tasks within each workspace, such as manuals, technical documents, or project files.
AI summarizes descriptions from multiple documents found in search results and presents them as answers. This allows users to grasp necessary information by reviewing the summary alone, without opening the documents. Additionally, the relevant pages in source documents supporting the answer are easily verifiable via preview display, enabling users to cross-reference AI responses with original texts. This approach ensures answer accuracy while simultaneously preventing misinformation and enabling rapid information retrieval.

When verifying business rules or procedures, utilizing the AI Chat function enables cross-searching of internal regulations, guidelines, and operational manuals stored in the workspace. This allows users to quickly grasp necessary procedures and applicable conditions. Furthermore, when internal regulations require review due to legal revisions, posting a query to the AI Chat about which sections need revision enables the AI to extract the relevant sections from multiple related documents. This enables personnel to efficiently grasp the scope of revisions and accurately and promptly update relevant documents.
When users need to look up technical information documented in specifications or work procedures during product development, they can post their question to the AI Chat. The AI will cross-search multiple related documents, organize the key points, and present them to the users. This allows for deeper understanding of specialized technical content while referencing the original text. Consequently, anyone can quickly access specialized know-how. This promotes knowledge sharing and utilization across the entire organization, independent of specific personnel's experience or insights, contributing to operational standardization and quality improvement.
Fujifilm Business Innovation has enhanced the AI capabilities of “FUJIFILM IWpro” to promote the utilization of information accumulated within companies and support the digitization of business processes. To date, we have contributed to our customers' operational efficiency and productivity improvements with the “FUJIFILM IWpro Intelligent Data Capture Option”*2, which extracts data from forms using OCR technology powered by generative AI. AI Chat is available in workspaces with “FUJIFILM IWpro Standard” or “FUJIFILM IWpro Light” license. The “FUJIFILM IWpro Standard” or “FUJIFILM IWpro Light” license includes 300 free questions per month. As part of our launch campaign, up to 2,000 questions per month are free until May 31, 2026
