Digitisation & Back Scanning Services

We have the expertise to provide a cost effective mass digitisation solution with a proven track record of back scanning projects.

We provide scanning services on an enormous scale and successfully completed a range of mass digitisation solutions to some of Australia’s largest banks and government departments. Our solution is underpinned by our robust and highly sophisticate tracking system that allows originals to be located and retrieved with short notice whilst in process.

Our Experience and Capacity

Fujifilm DMS is the undisputed leader in designing and processing scanning applications. Our system is therefore very robust and feature-rich compared to any other product in the marketplace.

Our internally-developed software provides for all Optical Mark Recognition (OMR), Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR), Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Barcode Recognition (BCR).

We have been providing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) services since the mid-1980s and is today one of the largest Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) scanning providers in the region, scanning over 80 million documents across our scanning bureau’s nationally with enough current capacity to more than double this level of output.

The volume results from our management of the majority of large backlog and ongoing digitisation projects in Australia.  We have designed thousands of scannable forms for our clients and have undertaken more scanning applications than any other company in the region.

Microfilm Scanning Capability

Fujifilm DMS has a large range of scanning hardware that caters for all documents, from the size of small receipts through to wide format documents (A2-A0). These are imaged using a variety of scanning devices to cater for different types of requirements. These include high-speed production rotary scanners such as Kodak i1860 and i5600 and Inotec 433.

These scanners are most commonly used in imaging projects but Fujifilm DMS also has dedicated scanners such as microfilm and microfiche scanners, flatbed scanners, wide format scanners, dedicated book scanners and production mail openers.

Microfilm Digital Conversion Case Study: Byron Shire Council

Business Challenge

Byron Shire Council had business requirements to digitise their thirty year old, degrading library of microfilm tapes. These tapes consisted of very old building plans.

The partner chosen by Byron Shire Council to support the digitisation initiative had to deliver a solution that instills confidence in scanning and data capture and who was agile in developing and implementing solutions that are underpinned by security and governance.

As the chosen supplier, Fujifilm DMS engaged in a collaborative partnership with Byron Shire Council to successfully meet the requirements and deliver the solution.

Solution

The solution was based on the latest microfilm scanning and image recognition technology to capture the development and/or property numbers.

Optical character recognition technology captured the indexes, with manual verification by a human operator.

The microfilm images were processed using intelligent character recognition (ICR) technology and the images were further verified by operators to ensure data accuracy.

Fujifilm DMS has developed stringent microfilm imaging and assessment process to meet the quality requirements set out by Byron Shire Council.

“Fuji Xerox* have been very flexible about timetable and schedules, and have worked happily with our requirements and preferences without any problems.

We would highly recommend Fuji Xerox* for any digitisation needs. Their professional skills in imaging, their communication and their customer relations are all excellent.”
