Dear Customers,

Thank you very much for your continued use of our products.

Microsoft has announced the introduction of the new Windows Protected Print Mode feature in Windows 11 version 24H2 or later, as well as Windows Server 2025. Customers using earlier versions may also be automatically updated through Windows update or similar channels.

Enabling this feature, which is disabled by default, can help mitigate vulnerabilities related to legacy drivers and is expected to enhance security. However, it will significantly impact already installed printer drivers, fax drivers, virtual drivers, as well as WSD printer drivers and WSD scanner drivers.

Specifically, enabling this feature will cause all printer drivers we have traditionally provided, as well as the WSD scanner driver and WSD printer driver provided by Microsoft, to be automatically removed by the OS and become unusable.

Please understand the above and configure the Windows Protected Print Mode feature accordingly.

Event that Occurs when Windows Protected Print Mode Feature Is Enabled

When the Windows Protected Print Mode feature is enabled, the following occurs:

FUJIFILM printer drivers and Microsoft WSD printer drivers

  • You will no longer be able to install new printer drivers, create ports, or create print queues.
  • If any printer drivers were already installed, those drivers, any print queues created for that printer, and the printer settings will be deleted.
Please note that once drivers and print queues are deleted due to this feature, disabling the feature alone will not restore them. You will need to reinstall the drivers manually.

Microsoft WSD Scanner Driver

  • You will no longer be able to install a new WSD scanner driver.
  • If a WSD scanner driver was already installed, that scanner driver and its settings will also be deleted.
Please note that once drivers and scanner queues are deleted due to this feature, disabling the feature alone will not restore them. You will need to reinstall the drivers manually.

Conditions for Occurrence

Both of the following conditions must be met:

  • Windows 11 version 24H2 or later and Windows Server 2025
  • Enable the Windows Protected Print Mode feature (the default setting is “Disabled”).
  • * This does not occur in Windows 11 version earlier than 24H2, nor on Windows 10.
