Fuji Xerox Announces 2018 PIXI Awards Winners
Recognising Excellence and Innovation in Digital Printing
SINGAPORE, January 28, 2019 – Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd announced the 34 winning entries of its 2018 PIXI (Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging) Awards. This annual competition recognises innovation and excellence in digitally-printed pieces from users of Fuji Xerox solutions across the region – with entries from: Australia, China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
2018 PIXI Awards engaged 181 entries for 33 award categories. In addition to the existing 29 application-based and industry award categories, five new award categories were introduced – Use of Speciality Colours: Metallics & White, Use of 5th & 6th Colour Technology, Creative Use of Speciality Media, Inkjet printing: Signage & Display and Embellishment & Finishing. These new categories aimed to showcase the omnifarious applications of the IridesseTM Production Press specialty colours and applications.
The independent expert panel of printing industry professionals assessed all entries to adjudicate the winning pieces for 2018 PIXI Awards. Contributing their expert perspective to the overall judging process, the returning judges were publisher and chairperson of the Asian Print Awards, Paul Callaghan, and print industry veterans Major Wong Wing Kwong and Alf Carrigan. Evaluation criteria included: print quality, appropriate use of digital technology, degree of innovation, business effectiveness and overall aesthetics.
2018 PIXI Awards “Best in Show” (pictured) was awarded to Taiwan’s MTID Idea Co., Ltd. for their submission of a calendar titled “Unattached and at leisure”. This was produced using a combination of the VersantTM 2100 Press and IridesseTM Production Press.
“2018 PIXI Awards entries have far exceeded what we expected in terms of superb quality,” commended Paul Callaghan, head of the 2018 PIXI Awards judge panel. “Just how much the Silver, Gold, special colours and combined in some cases with offline application technologies have now taken flight in our industry. 2018 PIXI Awards was a real ‘eye opener’ for us, so much so that we have to take a step back and just look at the big picture the industry is in today. This is by far the hardest event we have had to judge in the history of the PIXI Awards!”
The winning applications will be showcased in Fuji Xerox Graphic Communication Service Tokyo, Japan and regional Graphic Communication industry events.
For an opportunity to receive further acknowledgement, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific submits all entries Note 1 into the Asian Print Awards, a competition for printers in the region.
