FUJIFILM will support IRCAD with innovative ultrasound technology solutions and 3D surgical planning tools such as Synapse® 3D software for surgical education. With a shared goal of making minimally invasive surgery more accessible with the IRCAD research and training institute, we are committed to increasing the adoption of image-guided solutions in surgical practice, to improve the quality of life for patients.
JOINT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES FOR SURGEONS - ACCESSIBLE INTERNATIONALLY
With the joint goal of increasing accessibility to surgical education, this powerful collaboration will focus on new educational programmes for intraoperative ultrasound and image guided solutions supporting surgeons across Europe and around the world. By design, these programmes will support knowledge exchange and specialist training resources for surgeons, accessible both in-person and online.
Continuous education and professional development are at the heart of the collaboration between FUJIFILM and IRCAD. With access to advanced ultrasound technology, enhanced visualization of anatomical structures, and 3D planning software, surgeons can expect to easily access the knowledge to improve surgical techniques, enhance skills and stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
SURGICAL RESEARCH EXCELLENCE MEETS OVER 90 YEARS OF IMAGING TECHNOLOGY
With its origins in X-ray, FUJIFILM’s expertise in imaging technology has been nurtured and refined for over 90 years working alongside leading organisations in healthcare, medicine and clinical research. Collaborating with the incredible IRCAD team continues this lifelong FUJIFILM tradition of a deeply research-based approach to innovation, designed to benefit patients and society.
INTRODUCING IRCAD RESEARCH AND TRAINING INSTITUTE
Established in 1994 within the University of Strasbourg, IRCAD quickly gained international recognition for its pioneering role in minimally invasive and robotic surgery involving training and research.
IRCAD Institute’s research and educational e-learning programmes are now recognised worldwide. The new collaboration between FUJIFILM and IRCAD is an opportunity to deliver added value to customers with IRCAD’s expertise in research and education, combined with FUJIFILM’s expertise in global medical and diagnostic technologies.
COLLABORATING IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
This collaboration provides an opportunity for surgeons to contribute to the future development of surgical technologies. Valuable feedback from surgeons will inform the future product development path for FUJIFILM’s ultrasound products. In essence, we aim to develop a future generation of ultrasound products that are designed by clinicians, for clinicians.
ENHANCING SAFETY IN CLINICAL PRACTICE WITH REAL-TIME ACCESS TO IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES
This collaboration offers an invaluable opportunity for both younger and experienced surgeons to work together to enhance the safety of clinical practices in minimally invasive surgery. We aim to launch new initiatives and technologies that are designed to optimise surgical workflow, utilise the availability of artificial intelligence, and identify and mitigate any safety risks in the process.
With a shared perspective on the benefits of non-invasive surgery to preserve the patient's quality of life, the FUJIFILM and IRCAD collaboration provides a route to developing end-to-end non-invasive technology solutions. Together, we look forward to developing new methods of improving patient outcomes, reducing treatment variability, and increasing adherence to best practices.
This collaboration with Fujifilm marks a major step forward, not only in the training of surgeons and interventional radiologists, but also in the development of ambitious joint research and innovation projects. We are proud to collaborate with such a global leader in medical imaging and technology. Together, we will explore new ways to enhance surgical education and clinical practice through state-of-the-art tools and platforms. Such as the 3D planning software system, which will enable thousands of surgeons trained at IRCAD to rehearse procedures on a digital twin of the organ before operating on real patients.
