Fujifilm India Launches FDR nano; State of The Art Mobile Digital  Radiology System

Created by using Fujifilm’s unique cassette digital radiology and image processing technology, the FDR Nano, brings you the premium digital X-ray cart system with amazing – movement, workflow, usability, and quality - With a compact digital X-ray cart system, the brand aims to offer solutions for critical moments you face every day

01 March 2021, New Delhi: Fujifilm India Private Limited, a pioneer in imaging and healthcare technologies, today announced the launch of its mobile digital radiology system – FDR nano. Offering high resolution imaging with low X-ray doses in healthcare settings, this new digital radiology technology enables a noise reduction circuits that in turn, improves the granularity of low-density regions, and achieves high image quality.

The lightweight and compact FDR Nano has achieved approximately 80% reduction in its total weight as compared to traditional mobile X-rays. It offers a significant reduction in terms of the external dimensions, enabling smooth movement in the hospital and at the bedside. The high-performance built-in Li-on battery enables 12 hours of continuous use at 20 shots per hour and radiology can be performed even when the battery is empty by simply using the ac power cord. By combining it with Fujifilm’s FDR D-EVO II DR cassette, high-quality X-ray images can be acquired even at a low dose. The FDR D-EVO II cassette utilizes the ISS method*3 and Noise Reduction Circuit*4 which are Fujifilm’s special image processing technologies.

Designed to reduce the burden on doctors and medical workers by offering them a portable radiography technology that allows easy insertion, smooth operational movement. Further supporting with easy free spin and slide, flexible operation panel, improved forward and downward visibility when moving the cart in narrow spaces, high silence system and most importantly fully coated “Hydro ag” technology which has an antibacterial effect 100 times greater than that of conventional Ag coating to prevent bacterial growth and allows for an easy to clean unit. Enabling them to capture high contrast images without a grid as well as reduce the image granularity in low dose imaging.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has recently made substantial strides in perception, allowing machines to better represent and interpret complex data. The primary driver behind the emergence of AI in medical imaging has been the desire for greater efficacy and efficiency in clinical care. Radiological imaging data continues to grow at a disproportionate rate when compared with the number of available trained readers and AI plays a vital role in data analysis e.g. Detection, Characterization and monitoring.

FDR nano offers intergrade platform for AI within and outside result options, thereby revolutionizing the Radiology workflow. It offers a broader platform beyond X-ray department e.g. ORs and ERs where quick decisions are the essence for saving the life of critical patients.

Commenting on the announcement Mr. Haruto Iwata, Managing Director, Fujifilm India said, “At Fujifilm India, we are not designing a new product but a new workflow. Staying true to our commitment, we have introduced the FDR nano, which aims to revolutionize mobile digital radiology workflow through its compact design and state-of-the-art Cassette DR FDR D-EVO II technology to transform radiography services in India. With our new technology, we aim to provide the much-needed ease to the healthcare professionals, with the option of various movements such as intuitive arm handling and free spin and slide, virtual grid software which will decrease the image contrast resulting in high-resolution images, noise cancellation circuit, and energy saving. This revolutionary machinery will help in reducing the burden on medical practitioners.”

Commenting on the launch Mr. Chander Shekhar Sibal, Senior Vice President, Fujifilm India said, “With our new FDR nano, patients will benefit from imaging, and the radiology services in hospitals and doctors will also experience a corresponding reduction in workload. Fujifilm has a long history of introducing profoundly new and effective technologies to the market for medical imaging, and FDR Nano will enable our clients to understand how they can offer their services in a new way to satisfy the changing demands of the society.”

The FDR Nano has achieved a total weight reduction of approximately 90Kg which is around 80% reduction achieved as compared to the traditional x-ray. It also offers a significant reduction in terms of the external dimensions enabling smooth movement in the hospital, at the bedside, and through narrow spaces. The solution can quickly full charge in four hours, has a long service battery life, and can connect to with AC power cord to perform radiology even when the battery is empty. Equipped with a DR slot for charging, sharing, and locking the D-EVO II, also tilting the DR slot make it easy to apply the cover. A flat design has been adopted with less irregularity and a cable arm to keep the system clean with ease.

The FDR Nano will enable healthcare professionals to work easily around the hospital without having to worry constantly about moving heavy machinery and plugging it in and out constantly.
