Düsseldorf, April 27, 2026 – FUJIFILM’s X-DEN in Düsseldorf has proudly opened W4W Photography Week with its evocative exhibition, “Where the Unseen Becomes Visible” on April 24. The week-long event, running through April 30, provides a rich cultural experience open to the public and celebrates photography’s power to illuminate narratives often left in the shadows. All events and exhibitions throughout the week are free of charge, reflecting FUJIFILM’s commitment to openness, artistic expression, and community engagement.
Exhibition “Where the Unseen Becomes Visible”
The X-DEN offers a space of encounter, where immersive photographic works reveal perspectives, stories, and moments that rarely appear in the spotlight yet deserve to be seen. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed Sunday), the exhibition invites visitors to explore four thematic chapters: Layers of Existence, Geographies of Pain, The Anthropocosmos, and The Human Pulse.
The photographs on display represent a diverse range of international artists. Highlights include Valentina Tamborra, internationally renowned X-Photographer and Fujifilm ambassador, and her project “The Flowers Remain – Identity Surviving Torture,” award-winning photographer Giulio Di Sturco’s philosophical reflection on innovation and ethics with “Anthropocosmos,” and Fujifilm ambassador Tomasz Lazar’s evocative documentation of silence during the Covid-19 pandemic and traces of life amid conflict in Ukraine.
Engaging Program of Talks, Tours & Photo Walks Featuring Renowned Experts
Alongside the exhibition, W4W Photography Week offers a program of expert-led activities designed to deepen visitor engagement and expand the conversation around contemporary photography’s social role. Daily guided gallery tours provide in-depth insight into creatives’ processes and the broader social contexts behind the works.
Expert talks feature a distinguished lineup: Tomasz Lazar, Fujifilm Global Ambassador, shares insights from long-term documentary projects; Raffaele Horstmann discusses his conceptual approach to light and imperfection; Nina Papiorek explores the interaction between human presence and urban surroundings; and Lennart Speer offers perspectives rooted in honest portrait and documentary photography.
The program also includes guided photo walks - hands-on learning opportunities to capture Düsseldorf’s urban environment, inspired by exhibition themes - and interactive Touch & Try sessions, presenting Fujifilm’s latest imaging technologies to participants.
About the X-DEN: Creativity and Community
The Fujifilm X-DEN serves as an exclusive hub for creative exchange, hosting cultural events that spark dialogue and broaden perspectives. During W4W Photography Week, it transforms into a vibrant center enabling new conversations and authentic connections.
Kunio Aoyama, General Manager of European Imaging Solutions at Fujifilm Europe, notes: “‘Where the Unseen Becomes Visible’ is more than a photography exhibition—it is a space for artists and audiences to meet and share perspectives that might otherwise remain unnoticed. We are proud for the X-DEN to provide the environment where such meaningful creative dialogue can thrive.”
W4W – The Unseen Issue: Storytelling Beyond the Visible
The W4W project, embodied in the eleventh edition “The Unseen Issue,” marks an important evolution in FUJIFILM’s commitment to diverse and authentic storytelling. With a redesigned layout and the inclusion of male contributors alongside female voices, this edition reflects a richer mosaic of perspectives. Nearly 30 contributions from more than 10 countries highlight contexts and people often pushed to society’s margins.
“W4W (Women4Women) is a magazine dedicated to collecting multiple voices, images, stories, inspirations, humanity and perspectives in one uniquely powerful place. Guided by the female gaze of its editorial team, it continues to pursue authenticity, inclusivity and equality. In it’s 11th issue titled “The Unseen”, W4W explores the margins giving voices to those who care, those who resist and those who carry the weight of life far from the limelight. The gallery at the X-DEN Düsseldorf is the natural extension of this vision, a space where photography transforms the unseen stories into visible, tangible experiences. Here, the magazine’s emphasis is on inclusivity and emotional depth comes alive through powerful images that give presence and power to what is often overlooked. This shared journey invites the visitor to witness the most authentic and memorable parts of humanity and to see how, through art and dialogue, the unseen becomes visible”, Luana Porfido, European Head of Corporate Communication and ESG Management at Fujifilm Europe.
