I am a 29-year-old Equipment Engineer at Fujifilm. In October 2024, I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in my right upper arm.
After undergoing chemotherapy and major surgery, I completed my treatment in May 2025. This journey has taught me the importance of perseverance, hope and appreciating every step forward.
Guided by Hope
In October 2024, my life suddenly changed when I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in my right upper arm.
What followed was a long and difficult journey of chemotherapy, major surgery, rehabilitation, and many moments of uncertainty.
During that period, I learned how important hope can be. Hope does not mean pretending that everything will be fine or ignoring the difficult moments.
For me, it meant continuing to believe that there was still something ahead of me – another step to take, another milestone to reach, and a life to rebuild.
There were times when progress felt slow and the future was uncertain, but having something to look forward to gave me the strength to keep going.
Sometimes hope was about something big, like finishing treatment. Other times, it was something very small – getting stronger, regaining movement, returning to work, or simply feeling a little more like myself again.
My experience taught me that hope can give us direction when we cannot yet see the full road ahead. It reminds us that even during some of the most difficult moments of our lives, there can still be a reason to keep moving forward.
