A Next Generation Facility Where Play Becomes Learning —

The Challenge Taken on by Little Planet and the Z Projector.
Little Planet has been receiving attention as a futuristic playground.
Supporting its unique appeal is Fujifilm’s Z Projector.
Under the concept of “Turning Play into Learning,” Little Planet offers immersive experiences that blend play and education using the latest digital technologies.
This case study introduces how the Z Projector contributes to the Little Planet experience.

Installation Flexibility: The Key to Solving a Major Challenge

One of the major challenges Little Planet faced was the difficulty of installing projectors inside commercial facilities.
Ceilings were crowded with air conditioning units and fire prevention equipment, and finding floor or wall locations that would not interfere with the children playing was equally difficult.

The Z Projector solved these challenges through:

  • A wide lens shift range, enabling projection from locations offset from the screen
  • An ultra short throw lens, shortening the required distance between the projector and the screen
  • Reduced shadows even when people move close to the projected area

This flexibility allowed the team to adapt to difficult installation environments and achieve the ideal spatial presentation.

Installation Flexibility that Harmonizes with Design

The Z Projector also brought major improvements to spatial design.
Traditionally, projecting onto the floor required vertical installation, making the equipment visually intrusive.

However, with its folded two axis rotating lens design, the Z Projector allows downward projection while keeping the projector body horizontal.
This reduces visual clutter and allows visitors to focus entirely on the content.

The Z Projector enables projection onto ceilings and floors while keeping the main unit horizontal.

Expanding Future Possibilities

Little Planet locations continue evolving beyond wall and floor projection.
New ideas under consideration include:

  • Ceiling projection
  • 360 degree full surround projection

To achieve such new generation immersive experiences, projectors with a high level of installation freedom—such as the Z Projector—play an essential role.

Creating Future Oriented Spaces with the Z Projector

For Little Planet, the Z Projector is more than just projection hardware.
Its installation flexibility and high imaging performance not only contribute to today’s spatial experiences but also expand the possibilities for future interactive environments.

As Little Planet continues to evolve spaces where children can learn through play, the Z Projector will remain a key partner supporting this vision.
