Fujifilm's FDR Nano X-Ray Unit Reaches Wards Other Mobiles Can't Access

During the first lockdown in 2020, the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) in Essex invested in a new digital mobile x-ray unit, and one specific model was top choice.

“One of the main reasons for choosing the FDR nano mobile x-ray unit for the radiology department at PAHT was the fact it’s lightweight and has easy manoeuvrability for fast, efficient bedside imaging,” said Micelle Clooney, A&E Superintendent Radiographer, PAHT.  “The new mobile was able to provide imaging on wards that our other portable units were unable to access due to weight restrictions on these wards.  During the pandemic these were converted to Covid-19 wards and the FDR nano unit enabled quick and efficient bedside imaging for these patients.”

“We have also found the versatility of using both small and large FDR D-EVO II detectors with the FDR nano mobile provides higher quality imaging within our neo-natal unit where CR equipment was previously being utilised.  The detectors are easy to use and to handle with the grip edges, and the charging capability whilst docked in the unit mitigates against imaging delays in replacing batteries.”

“The compact size of the unit has been appreciated by clinicians, in particular when imaging in clinically urgent situations.  The FDR nano unit does not take up a lot of space at the patient’s bedside, enabling patient care to continue during set up for imaging.  The tube and line imaging capability is well-liked by clinicians and radiologists as it helps with better visualisation in sometimes difficult imaging circumstances.”

“Overall the FDR nano mobile x-ray system has become the go-to portable unit for radiographers within the department.”
