Young adults represent a unique and often overlooked group among cancer patients. According to the National Cancer Registry of the Robert Koch-Institute, approximately 16,500 individuals aged 18–39 are diagnosed with cancer annually in Germany. Facing significant challenges during formative years, these young adults benefit greatly from networks, tailored resources, and supportive spaces. By prolonging its donation, Fujifilm Europe amplifies DSFJEMK’s activity and advocacy, aligning its commitment with tangible impact for those who need it most.1
Ongoing support: Empowering TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf and raising visibility
With the renewed donation, Fujifilm Europe’s support for DSFJEMK continues to help TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf thrive as a safe networking hub, offering affected young adults opportunities to connect with like-minded people, receive valuable information, and foster mutual support.
Organized and supported by those affected themselves, the meetings promote personal exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to the close cooperation with the foundation, the TREFFPUNKTE are professionally supervised and medical experts are on hand to answer the groups' technical questions.
“This year, the TREFFPUNKT project is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The dedication of the volunteers, being members of those groups, are the groundwork of all the foundation’s activities. The motto has always been ‘by those affected, for those affected.’ That is why places like the TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf are so important. The TREFFPUNKTE are places where young people feel understood, where they can share their experiences and simply be themselves. We want everyone to benefit from this helpful exchange, which is why we have also created a digital meeting place that offers support even far from major cities. Fujifilm’s continued support is invaluable to our project, and we thank them for this important partnership!”, says Josephine Steffen, Chairwoman of the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer.
Achievements and ongoing commitment to collaboration
Last year’s support not only enhanced DSFJEMK’s visibility and the work of TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf, but also enabled several successful joint activities, raising awareness for DSFJEMK and actively engaging TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf members. At the charity regatta ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder’ 2025, Fujifilm Europe and DSFJEMK engaged the public via a joint information booth. During Fujifilm Europe’s Colon Health Awareness Days in April 2026, DSFJEMK materials were distributed to educate attendees. The foundation’s work was also presented during an informational talk at the European headquarters about cancer patient journeys in October 2025, and featured in the latest issue of Fujifilm’s corporate magazine W4W, titled ‘The Unseen Issue’.
Looking ahead, both parties plan to continue collaborating on local awareness campaigns, educational projects, and community outreach events.
“Social commitment lies at the heart of our purpose ‘Giving our world more smiles’. By extending our support to the ‘German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer’, we reinforce our dedication to young adults with cancer and help ensure that crucial spaces like TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf continue to thrive. Building on last year’s successes, we are proud to help increase visibility, encourage community engagement, and offer tangible support to those facing extraordinary challenges.”, says Masataka Akiyama, President & Managing Director, Fujifilm Europe.
Fujifilm Europe: Contributing to the fight against breast and colon cancer
