Ratingen, 20 August 2025 – Fujifilm Europe is once again supporting the charity rowing regatta ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder für Menschen mit Krebs’ (Düsseldorf at the helm for people with cancer), which will take place on 30 August 2025 in Düsseldorf's Media Harbour. The event combines sporting endeavour with social commitment to support people with cancer and raise awareness of their situation.
Fujifilm is participating in the regatta with two company rowing boats and is also sponsoring two other boats: ‘Frauenselbshilfe Krebs’, a network focusing on breast cancer and gynaecological cancers that offers free and non-binding exchange and counseling services for those affected and their relatives nationwide, as well as ‘Team Rynkeby’, Europe's largest cycling initiative, which focuses on cancer research in children and young people.
In addition to its sporting participation, Fujifilm will be represented by the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer (Deutsche Stiftung für junge Erwachsene mit Krebs) at a stand from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. There, visitors will have the opportunity to talk to representatives from Fujifilm, the foundation and its ‘TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf’ (Düsseldorf Meeting Point). The aim of the joint appearance is to raise public awareness of the special challenges faced by young adults with cancer and to promote dialogue. Visitors will also be able to find out more about Fujifilm's commitment to the healthcare sector and take home a special souvenir in the form of instax instant photos.
says Mengping Ni, Strategic Buyer at Fujifilm Europe.
The proceeds from the rowing event will support the work of the Cancer Society of North Rhine-Westphalia. This non-profit organisation is a point of contact for all matters relating to cancer. This includes both strengthening preventive healthcare so that fewer people develop the disease and providing direct assistance when cancer is diagnosed. The Krebsgesellschaft NRW e.V. (Cancer Society of North Rhine-Westphalia) offers free advice and support.
Participation in ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder’ is another highlight of the collaboration between Fujifilm and the TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf, a meeting place for young adults with cancer run by the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer. In June 2025, Fujifilm made a donation of €15,000 to the foundation to support the work of TREFFPUNKT and raise its profile throughout Germany.
TREFFPUNKT offers young people affected by cancer a space for exchange, mutual support and public engagement, sending an important signal for this often overlooked patient group. The joint appearance of Fujifilm and the foundation at the regatta underlines this commitment and brings the challenges faced by young people with cancer to the attention of the public.
explains Masataka Akiyama, President & Managing Director Fujifilm Europe GmbH.
