Notice of Impact on our products and workaround after Google Account security enhancement

Dear Customers,
Google announced “To help keep your account secure, starting May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password.”
Please be kindly informed its impact on our products (MFPs/Printers) and the workaround as follows.
Impact on our products
If customers use their Gmail (individual account) as a mail server (SMTP/POP3) and specify Google Account’s username(mail address) and password in our products, they will not be able to use the send/receive functionality* of Email/Internet Fax.
Note:
This can be avoided by setting an app password instead of a password. Also, customers who have already set an app password instead of a password will not be affected.
- * Send as E-mail (Scan), Interne Fax Send, Mail notification, Email transfer of Paper-less Fax received, and Print E-mail or Internet Fax received and other features that send/receive email.

Workaround
Log in to the Google Account page to create an App Password for the mail app. Then, specify the username (mail address) and App Password in SMTP/POP3 settings of our product.
Customers who have already set an app password instead of a password will not be affected.
Procedure (the setting as workaround)
Follow these steps to change Google account password to the app password and set it.
If already specified the same as [Workaround setting], no changes are required.
- Log in to the Google Account page.
- Turn on “2-Step Verification”.
- Create an App Password.
Choose "Mail” from Select app and "Other (Custom name)" from Select device, and then generate an App Password. - In SMTP/POP3 settings on MFP, enter the Google Account username (mail address) and App Password.
