The theme for the FUJIFILM BI Hong Kong Design Competition 2026 is “More Design in Hong Kong: Intellectual Property Character & Product Packaging Design Competition.” The competition is open to design students from Hong Kong’s tertiary institutions, including both degree and non-degree programs. Students are encouraged to fuse creativity with Hong Kong’s unique local culture and to showcase their innovative works using FUJIFILM BI Hong Kong’s six-color digital printing system, the Revoria Press™ PC2120. This cutting-edge digital printing technology brings out the most delicate specialty toners, allowing emerging designers to fully express their craftsmanship.
Focusing on Hong Kong’s local culture, the competition encourages designers to blend creativity with cultural elements. It is divided into two categories: Intellectual Property Character Design and Product Packaging Design.
In the Intellectual Property Character category, participants are tasked with promoting “In-depth Tourism in Hong Kong” through original IP creations.
For the Product Packaging Design category, participants will design unique packaging for “Hong Kong Specialty Souvenirs” specifically for snowflake crisp, a social enterprise product produced by the Vocational Training Council (VTC). The winning design will be featured on a special edition of snowflake crisp, available for purchase at the Tung Nam Lou Art Hotel.
The competition features two main entry categories:
For IP designs and cultural and creative printed product designs themed around "In-Depth Tour of Hong Kong," participants are required to submit two components:
1. Intellectual Property Character Guidebook
- A written introduction (no more than 200 words) detailing the name and design concept of the entry
- Color guidelines (using Pantone or other spot color references)
- Character descriptions (e.g., basic poses, scale model, expressions, etc.)
- Material guidelines (e.g., clothing and props usable for the characters)
- Logo applications (different logo versions featuring the character in various contexts)
2. Print Sample Demonstrating the Use of the Intellectual Property Character
- Printed formats such as posters, brochures, postcards, etc., should be presented as a printed item
- Recommended to utilize FUJIFILM BI’s digital specialty colors to enhance the entry
- Originality and Creativity (25%)
- Incorporation of Local Cultural Elements (25%)
- Design Skills and Application of FUJIFILM BI’s Specialty Toner (40%)
- Relevance and Feasibility (10%)
For the unique design of Hong Kong specialty souvenirs packaging for Tung Nam Lou Art Hotel, participants are required to submit two components to qualify for the competition:
1. Packaging Design Introduction
- A written introduction (no more than 200 words) detailing the name and design concept of the entry
2. Packaging Die-Cut Design
- Detailed packaging design specifications, printing and production requirements, and the types of paper materials needed
- The product to be packaged is snowflake crisp produced by a social enterprise under the Vocational Training Council (VTC)
- Each box contains 8 to 10 pieces of snowflake crisp
- Individual piece dimensions of the snowflake crisp are 8cm x 4cm x 2cm
- The estimated retail price per box is HKD120 to HKD150
The winning entry from the Product Packaging Design category will be commercialized into approximately 500 special edition boxes, which will be sold or used for promotional purposes by Tung Nam Lou Art Hotel.

- Participation in this competition is exclusively for design students from local tertiary institutions.
- Submitted works must be original and unpublished in any form. The use of AI-generated tools for creating entries is strictly prohibited. Participants will bear full responsibility for any intellectual property infringement involved in their submissions and shall indemnify the organizers and co-organizers against any related claims or legal actions.
- Copyright of the submitted works belongs to the participant; however, the organizers and co-organizers reserve the right to reproduce, publish, and distribute all or part of the submissions for exhibition and promotional purposes without prior consent.
- All images, photos, videos, and related media from the competition process will be owned and may be used by the organizers and co-organizers in internet, social media, or other media formats without prior approval.
- Any entry involving plagiarism, copying, or compositing will be disqualified at the discretion of the organizers.
- Participation implies full acceptance of all terms and conditions outlined in the competition guidelines. The organizers reserve the right to modify, amend, or terminate the competition at any time without prior notice.
- FUJIFILM Business Innovation Hong Kong reserves final decision-making authority over the competition, including interpretations and amendments to the competition rules.
