Product designer Masahiko Yamamoto led the Apeos project with extensive research done in five cities around the world to understand how people use printers differently at work. Based on his findings, we have redesigned the traditional multifunction printer to minimise surface irregularities and maintain a simple, sleek silhouette. The challenge: Many printers need a few minutes to warm up before printing, especially if you are the first user of the day. This is because the printer’s fuser assembly must be heated to a high temperature to fuse toner particles to paper. For employees, this wait time can be frustrating when they have a busy day ahead. 

While some printers use preheating to ensure instant availability from standby mode, the trade-off is that it consumes more electricity.
