At FUJIFILM Business Innovation, we manage chemical substances used in our products in accordance with the Fujifilm Group Green Policy. In addition to managing them under our voluntary regulation standards, which are stricter than the legal requirements, we work under a basic policy of obtaining correct information about establishment and revisions of related laws and regulations and completing necessary compliance measures before the enforcement of established or revised laws and regulations.
We manage chemical substance information in a unified manner as the Fujifilm Group by using chemSHERPA, a standard format from the Japan Article Management Promotion-consortium (JAMP), in addition to the database we have accumulated so far.
We also check the level of management by our suppliers by auditing them and provide them with necessary support, in an effort to improve the level of management of our overall supply chain. We will continue to stay ahead of international trends by working together with local subsidiaries of the Fujifilm Group and will remain proactive in advancing initiatives to supply products worldwide and reduce the use of substances of concern.
We are striving to reduce the risk of accidents and disasters associated with the chemicals handled at sites and to manage and reduce emissions of chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and substances subject to the Law concerning Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR Act). We will continue to strengthen our efforts as we respond to regulations established toward reducing risks of chemical substances contained in products, and will improve our risk management in response to legal restrictions both in and outside of Japan.
We voluntarily reduce air emissions of 20 types of VOC identified by four electrical/electronic industry organizations, including JBMIA (Japan Business Machine and Information System Industries Association). We will continue to work on the emission reduction activities, in light of anticipated future trends of domestic and international regulations.
PCB waste to which the Act on Special Measures concerning Promotion of Proper Treatment of PCB Wastes applies are stored and managed appropriately at Ebina Center and Takematsu Center.
