FUJIFILM India partners with Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai for Training in Onco Pulmonology and Interventional Pulmonology

Mumbai April 19, 2023: FUJIFILM India, a pioneer in healthcare imaging and information systems formalized their partnership with the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Thoracic Oncology Disease Management Group, Tata Memorial Center (TMC), Mumbai for establishing a training facility at TMC. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Center, Dr CS Pramesh, Director, Tata Memorial Hospital, Dr SD Banavali, Director (Academics), TMC, Dr. Sandeep Tandon, Professor and Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, TMC, Mr. Dheeraj Chaudhri, Head, Endoscopy Division, FUJIFILM India Pvt. Ltd, and Mr. Tomosuke Okada, Japanese Advisor, FUJIFILM India Pvt. Ltd.

This basic and advanced Bronchoscopy training facility at one of the most prestigious Oncology institutes is a step forward in FUJIFILM’s objective of combining technological advancement with imparting technical skills to health care professionals. The center will provide comprehensive training and observership programs to Pulmonologists from Asia Pacific Region.

Dr Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) said ” Tata Memorial Centre is committed to the ideology of Service, Research and Education. TMC not only provides equitable oncology-care access to the region through its multiple Centres across India but also imparts training and education through oncology “skillset focused” academic courses under the Homi Bhabha National Institute, a deemed to be University, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. This initiative would not only scale up the existing training program in basic bronchoscopy, train observers in interventional pulmonology procedures, but also introduce the pulmonology observers and trainees to the niche field of Onco-Pulmonology and educate them on the synergistic role of the pulmonologist in an Oncology setup as part of a multidisciplinary team.”

Dr Sandeep Tandon, Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, TMC highlighted the role played by CSR funding by corporates as well as donations by philanthropic Trusts to public health institutions and their contribution in bridging the healthcare gap through public private partnerships. “The Onco-Pulmonology and Interventional Pulmonology training initiative is an example of this. What started with baby steps in 2021 with a donation of the Bronchoscopy and EBUS Simulation System and manikins to TMC by the R G Manudhane Motivation for Excellence Trust and our subsequent initiation of the PULMO-TMC Upskill training programs, has now been given a great boost with this partnership with FUJIFILM, taking our educational and training objectives a step further. This partnership will ensure a wider reach of our training program, apart from dedicated equipment for imparting formal training and will provide an opportunity for pulmonology trainees across Asia Pacific region to learn more about Onco-Pulmonology by attending our Outpatient Clinics as well as train in basic Interventional Pulmonology procedures.”
