FUJIFILM India Installs Pune’s First CAD EYE AI System in Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited, pioneered by Dr. Nitin Pai

The advanced CAD EYE system aids in detection and characterization of suspected lesion during colonoscopy and detects early gastric flat lesions in gastrointestinal endoscopy. The installation will identify at-risk population groups for focused screening campaigns and community-wide awareness initiatives.

Pune, 18 January 2024: FUJIFILM India, a pioneer in diagnostic imaging technology, has introduced the state-of-the-art CAD EYE Artificial Intelligence system in Pune for the first time at Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited, the state’s first nationally accredited multi-specialty hospital center. This installation promises top-tier diagnostic technology, crucial for tackling the rising threat of gastric and colon cancers in the underserved region. By utilizing real-world data and AI tools, the company is pinpointing high-risk population segments to provide targeted screening campaigns and conduct awareness drives across the community.

In India, the epidemiology of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer reveals a significant burden, marked by increased occurrence rates for esophageal, stomach, liver and colorectal cancers. This concern is compounded by insufficient cancer treatment infrastructure and a lack of systematic studies in the state, highlighting the importance of finding timely detection strategies to tackle these cancers.

The installation of Fujifilm’s CAD EYE at Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited in Pune, pioneered by Dr. Nitin Pai is a significant step in detecting GI and colon cancers. Using advanced imaging techniques and AI algorithms, CAD EYE aids early-stage detection by analyzing endoscopic images for subtle abnormalities. This upgrade boosts diagnostic accuracy and facilitates a better adenoma detection rate to provide timely intervention and improve patient outcomes. This state-of-the-art machine comes equipped with the latest LCI-BLI imaging technology. The combination of an optimal light spectrum and advanced signal/image processing allows LCI to differentiate red color tones more effectively than White Light imaging. However, High-intensity contrast imaging with BLI allows superior visualization of superficial vascular and mucosal patterns. Focusing on the characteristics of short wavelength absorption of hemoglobin (at 410 nm) combined with specific white light spectral colors results in improved and accurate contrast imaging.

Speaking on the installation, Dr. Nitin Pai, Director of Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy, Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited said, “This is a milestone to install the first ever Artificial Intelligence system CAD EYE in Pune. This will not only elevate the existing medical facilities but also help in assuring better and quicker results with no extra cost to patients. This achievement is not merely a technological advancement but a testament to our dedication to improving healthcare outcomes for our community. With CAD EYE, we are poised to elevate the standard of care in gastrointestinal health, ensuring timely and accurate diagnoses that are crucial in the fight against cancer.

Speaking on the installation, Mr. Behram, CEO of Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited, said, AI enabled endoscopy has emerged only recently and it was limited mostly to Japan and US. We are proud to introduce this technology in India as well. It has the potential to prevent emergence of serious and life-threatening conditions like stomach and colon cancer for screening for them at pre-cancerous stage.

Speaking on the installation, Dr P K Grant, Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic and Pune GI Private Limited, said “I extend my gratitude to the healthcare team and all involved in making this installation possible. Together, we embark on a new era of medical excellence, where cutting-edge technology meets compassionate care for the benefit of our patients.”

Speaking on the installation, Mr. Dheeraj Chaudhari, Head of Division, Endoscopy, FUJIFILM India, said, “We, at FUJIFILM India, aim to offer the best medical innovations and technologies to enhance the quality of life for people around the nation. With the installation of the CAD EYE system in Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune, the patients in the city and neighboring regions will be able to get the necessary medical support for detecting suspected lesions at an early stage. We strive to extend our support to superior and technologically advanced medical facilities that help save human lives and raise awareness among patients about their personal care. With a commitment to innovation and top-tier medical technology, we endeavor towards contributing to a healthier India.”

FUJIFILM India has always contributed and will continue to do so to make health conditions better in India and ensure a good lifestyle for its citizens. The company’s vision is to develop technology and create innovative products that lead humanity to a healthier and sustainable existence.
