Fujifilm Launches 4K Broadcast Zoom Lens “FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD”

Highly mobile 22x zoom with wide-angle 4.8mm capability
Ideal for diverse scenarios such as news coverage, studio shooting, and sports broadcasting.

TOKYO, March 18, 2026 – FUJIFILM Corporation announces the launch of the 4K broadcast zoom lens “FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD” (hereafter “UA22x4.8”), starting late March, which delivers excellent mobility and versatility by covering focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto with a single lens.

The UA22x4.8 is compatible with broadcast cameras equipped with a 2/3-inch sensor. With a compact and lightweight body measuring approximately 251mm in length and weighing approximately 2.17kg, it achieves wide-angle shooting at 4.8mm and a high-magnification 22x zoom. It performs well in a wide variety of shooting environments, including news coverage requiring mobility, studio shooting, and sports broadcasting that demands a high level of immersive visual expression. In addition to capturing wide shots of an entire venue, it enables flexible framing of distant subjects with high-magnification zoom, providing functionality that supports a broad range of visual expression.

In professional shooting environments such as news coverage, studio shooting, and sports broadcasting, there is consistent demand for highly versatile zoom lenses that can cover a wide range of focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto with a single lens. In response to these needs, Fujifilm launched the broadcast zoom lens “FUJINON UA18x5.5BERD” (hereafter “UA18x5.5”) in 2017. The lens has been highly regarded as a compact and lightweight zoom lens that covers a versatile focal range.

The new UA22x4.8 inherits the UA18x5.5’s compact and lightweight lens design with a wide focal range including wide-angle coverage, while further enhancing functionality and expressive capability as a new zoom lens. Along with advances in lens processing technology, Fujifilm utilized its proprietary optical simulation technology to realize a design that balances light weight and robustness. As a result, while minimizing increases in size and weight compared with the UA18x5.5, it achieves a compact and lightweight body weighing approximately 2.17kg, reducing the burden of long hours of shoulder-mounted shooting. In addition, compared with the UA18x5.5 focal length range of 5.5mm to 100mm, the UA22x4.8 supports a wider range of focal lengths from 4.8mm to 106mm. The expanded wide-angle range enables immersive visual expression in tight indoor spaces and sports venues.

Fujifilm will showcase the UA22x4.8 at “NAB Show 2026,” an international broadcast equipment exhibition to be held in Las Vegas, USA, from April 19 to 22, 2026.

Since releasing the world’s first 4K-compatible broadcast lens in 2015*1, Fujifilm has expanded its lineup to include 8K-compatible broadcast lenses, leading the enhancement of image quality in video production. Together with “FUJINON UA30x7.3BERD,” “FUJINON UA16x4BERD,” and “FUJINON UA94x8.7BESM,” which were announced simultaneously today, Fujifilm will continue to develop and provide high-performance lenses as well as accessories that support comfortable shooting, meeting the diverse needs of video production environments.

  • *1 4K-compatible broadcast zoom lenses for cameras equipped with a 2/3-inch sensor launched in 2015: “FUJINON UA80x9BESM” and “FUJINON UA22x8.”
Main features of the “FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD”
(1) Wide-Angle 4.8mm and Powerful 22x Zoom with High Mobility
  • The UA22x4.8 features a high magnification 22x zoom covering focal lengths from wide-angle 4.8mm to telephoto 106mm, enabling a single lens to handle a wide variety of shooting scenarios. It delivers high performance across various production environments such as news coverage, studio shooting, and sports broadcasting. Compared with the previous model UA18x5.5, the wide-angle shooting range is expanded; under conditions where the subject distance is 10m, it covers an approximately 3m wider horizontal range. This enables the entire stage to be captured for live events and concerts and allows more people and scenes to be captured at once in tight indoor shooting situations.
  • Its lightweight design enhances mobility and versatility for production. Measuring approximately 251mm in length and weighing approximately 2.17kg, it reduces the burden of shoulder-mounted operation and ensures ease of use during extended shooting sessions.
(2) 4K optical performance across the entire zoom range
  • By utilizing the latest ,optical simulation technology and suppressing various types of aberrations, the lens achieves 4K optical performance across the entire zoom range. In addition, Fujifilm’s unique multi-layer coating "HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating)" boasts high light transmittance and accurate color reproduction. This enables HDR (High Dynamic Range) shooting with balanced exposure, reducing black crush and highlight blowout while providing smooth tonal gradations. The lens performs exceptionally well in high-contrast scenarios, such as dusk stadium scenes.
(3) Features that support comfortable shooting
  • The lens supports close-up shooting with a minimum object distance of 0.4m across the entire zoom range, making it suitable for confined spaces when combined with its wide-angle 4.8mm capability.
  • It features high-resolution 16-bit encoders for extremely accurate position detection of zoom and focus in virtual and remote production, contributing to streamlined production workflows.
