Among various applications, one of the major contributions of Fujifilm’s micro filters has been their support for beer production in Japan. Traditionally, beer used to be heat-treated to prevent quality deterioration caused by living yeasts. In 1960s, however, breweries began to adopt micro filters for the filtration process of beer. This evolution in filtration technology made a huge impact on beer production, enabling breweries to remove yeasts by filtration instead of heat treatment, consequently giving birth to "draft beer". Since then, in step with the popularization of draft beer, micro filters became more common as one of the essential items for brewing draft beer. In particular, Fujifilm’s micro filters have been highly recognized for their quality and adopted by major beer breweries in Japan, holding a top-class market share today. So, in a certain sense, micro filters are the final gate guard protecting the safety and good taste of Japanese draft beer.

We support major beer companies as well as local craft beer breweries stabilize beer and maintain their flavor.

We offer 2 types of filter cartridges; final filter and pre filter.
Final filter, which removes bacteria and yeast, and pre filter which helps extend the life longevity of the final filter are both in our lineup.

Our membrane filter cartridges are found in the production line of bottled water, providing the consumer with safe and clean water used in daily lives. Bottled water also acts as a vital emergency water supply in case of natural disasters or where water supply has been cut off or contaminated. Because water is consumed by a wide range of people, the filtration process acts as an important role in the removal of harmful organisms or any contaminants. Our highly efficient filters are chosen and trusted from major beverage companies, bottling companies and even the local water bottling manufacturers. 

We also have air membrane cartridges (known as FLF cartridges) in our lineup, which are used as vent filtration, supplying sterile air in the stock tank.

Our micro filter gives birth to a new efficient way of making sake.

The production of sake is similar to those of beer or wine, however, it is much more complicated. Sake dregs, substance that is produced after fermentation needs to be removed in order to control the changes in color and flavor. Traditionally, cloth and active charcoal were used to remove sake dregs. With the development of filtration, they can now be replaced with membrane filters. Due to our reliable trapping performance and quality stabilization, our membrane filter cartridges are applied in many sake manufacturing companies that vary from major sake breweries to local breweries. Our filter also ensures to get rid of “hiochi bacteria”, a type of lactic acid bacteria that spoil sake.

Fujifilm’s air vent filters are applied in the process of making milk and yogurt that line up on your dining table every morning. There is constantly a flow of air in the storage tank that keeps milk in order to maintain the same pressure within the tank. This air needs to be sterile, eliminating any contaminants or airborne particles that can affect quality degradation. Our FLF filter support the manufacturers meet their hygiene management requirements.

In order to meet strict contamination control requirements for ultra-pure water, polysulfone membranes have been employed due to their excellent high-polymer separation membranes.
