FUJIFILM champions people-centered cancer care at the World Cancer Congress 2026

Year-long storytelling initiative with UICC culminates in the Life Stories: Cancer Journeys exhibition

Ratingen, Germany, 24 September 2026 – Fujifilm Group will participate in the World Cancer Congress (WCC) 2026 in Hong Kong as part of its global partnership with the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). Guided by Fujifilm Group’s Purpose, Giving our world more smiles, the company will showcase its commitment to advancing people-centred cancer care through innovation, collaboration and storytelling.

As a Visionary Partner of UICC’s World Cancer Day initiative, FUJIFILM supports global efforts to improve cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment while recognising the importance of the human experience throughout the cancer journey.

“At FUJIFILM, we believe innovation in healthcare is about more than technology—it is about improving people's lives. Together with the UICC, we are proud to support initiatives that place people at the heart of cancer care.”

Masataka Akiyama, President & Managing Director, FUJIFILM Europe GmbH

"The stories featured in the 12 People. 12 Cameras. 12 Months project remind us why people-centred care matters. They show that every cancer experience is unique, and every individual has their own needs, circumstances and priorities. Through our partnership with FUJIFILM, we have been able to bring these diverse experiences to a global audience, reinforcing the importance of seeing and listening to the person behind the diagnosis."

Dr Cary Adams, Chief Executive Officer, UICC

Throughout 2026, FUJIFILM and UICC have brought cancer experiences from around the world into focus through the 12 People Project – 12 People. 12 Cameras. 12 Months. This global storytelling initiative connects twelve individuals from twelve countries, each touched by cancer in a different way – from people living with and beyond cancer to caregivers, advocates and healthcare professionals.

Using FUJIFILM instax™ cameras, each participant has captured one moment from their life every month, creating a deeply personal visual diary of the realities that exist beyond diagnosis and treatment. From Juliette Berguet in Belgium, who has shared her experience of rebuilding her life after breast cancer and using her voice to advocate for others, to Yomna Sherif Omara in Egypt, an oncosurgeon capturing the reality of life in the operating theatre at 3 a.m. – their stories reveal the resilience, relationships and everyday moments behind every cancer experience.

Together, these twelve perspectives demonstrate the power of storytelling to build empathy, open dialogue and reinforce a simple but important message at the heart of UICC's United by Unique campaign: every person's experience of cancer is different, and truly people-centred care begins by seeing and listening to the individual behind the diagnosis.

This journey culminates at the World Cancer Congress 2026 with an exhibition bringing together all twelve stories for the first time. Through portraits, photography captured using FUJIFILM instax™ cameras and personal reflections, the exhibition invites delegates to connect with the people behind the stories and reflect on the importance of truly people-centred cancer care.

During the three-day event, Fujifilm will support the Congress through a series of initiatives that reflect the group’s purpose Giving our world more smiles. In close collaboration with Fujifilm China and local partner, the innovative FUJIFILM instax SPOT™ interactive imaging platform will be introduced at the event. Participants can enjoy an engaging photo experience and receive instant physical prints, transforming images into a powerful medium that bridges distances and fosters meaningful connections within the global cancer community throughout the Congress.
