The Yorkshire Clinic team in their brand-new FDR Visionary Suite.
Over the years FUJIFILM Healthcare UK and Ramsay Health Care UK have built a strong and trusted partnership. Across Ramsay’s network of hospitals, FUJIFILM technology plays an essential role in improving patient care and diagnostic accuracy, whilst also supporting Ramsay Health Care UK’s core value of 'people caring for people'.
The partnership is continuing to evolve, as FUJIFILM Healthcare’s flagship digital X-ray room solution, the FDR Visionary Suite has undergone a major update and this new and improved model has been successfully installed in The Yorkshire Clinic - Ramsay Health Care. This project marks the very first installation of this new state-of-the-art imaging solution in the UK. Prior to the installation the team at The Yorkshire Clinic were using an ageing CR X-ray room. After recognising the need for a faster, more efficient, and fully digital solution, the hospital worked with FUJFIILM Healthcare UK to upgrade to the advanced FDR Visionary Suite. The new FDR Visionary Suite is designed to enhance the experience for both radiographers and patients. It incorporates a wide range of features such as:
- A 12-inch LCD touchscreen tube head that enables the viewing of patient and exposure details.
- A camera has been integrated into the tube head, providing a live view of the patient, which includes features such as pre-exposure motion detection, last image retrieval, and overlays for the detector, automatic exposure controls (AECs), and collimation on the live feed.
- A new all-locks-released button for tube head movement is located at the bottom of the LCD screen, accompanied by a handle to aid the radiographer in making precise adjustments to the X-ray tube's position.
- New wireless positioning remotes facilitates auto-positioning capabilities anywhere within the X-ray room.
- A modernised, compact generator console with straight edges has been introduced to enhance cleanliness and comply with infection control policies.
These improvements, along with the suite of features that have made the FDR Visionary Suite X-ray room highly regarded and utilised by professionals across the UK such as auto positioning, adjustable power assist levels, and the Console Advance user interface demonstrate FUJIFILM’s commitment to enhancing user experience and operational efficiency.

The Yorkshire Clinic performs a high volume of post-operative hip and knee replacement imaging, making flexibility an essential in their X-ray room. The FDR Visionary Suite offers adaptable imaging options, and comes in a range of configurations, including emergency, orthopaedics and general X-ray, suiting the range of patient needs.
"Our new X-ray room offers us so many options in how we image and care for our patients. It also gives our staff and students confidence, as they can easily adapt between different imaging techniques." said Ciara McPhilomy, Radiographer at The Yorkshire Clinic.
A standout feature for the team is the Body Motion Detector, which alerts radiographers to patient movement between exposures, supporting accurate positioning, reducing retakes, and minimising unnecessary radiation dose.
Rhianna Hurd, Radiographer at The Yorkshire Clinic shared, "It’s incredibly helpful to know if a patient has moved before taking the image, as it prevents unnecessary exposure and ensures we get it right the first time."
Last month The Yorkshire Clinic were awarded an overall rating of Outstanding following its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commissions (CQC), reaching the highest rating possible¹. This highlights the hospital’s commitment to exceptional patient care and safety.
The Yorkshire Clinic team praised FUJIFILM Healthcare UK for the high-quality training and support received, noting how the system’s features were tailored to the hospital’s specific requirements. Commenting on the overall installation Yassar Ali, Diagnostic Imaging Manager, The Yorkshire Clinic shared, "We’ve really experienced Fujifilm’s Proudly by Your Side motto throughout this whole process from the initial plans to the finished installation. We required a few additional features, and my team experienced a big change moving from CR to DR, but the support and training from Fujifilm has been amazing, any queries we had the Applications Specialists answered with full confidence."
Since upgrading from a CR to a DR X-ray Room, The Yorkshire Clinic has reported a significant faster exam time and reduced patient waiting, further improving the overall experience. The installation has also improved the overall aesthetics of the room as it now looks modern and welcoming. Thanks to FUJIFILM Healthcare UK’s trust partner, Raybloc - The Radiation Shielding Specialists, the room is equipped with Sense-X® Screen which shares unparallel protection, innovative LED mood lighting, and hygienic design, all contributing to a more efficient and stress-free experience.
Commenting on how the refurbishment has improved the overall patient experience Rhianna Hurd, Radiographer at The Yorkshire Clinic shared, "The new design of our X-ray room presents a more welcoming feel. To put patients at ease I often ask them what their favourite colour is and change the LED lighting in the room to reflect this."
To celebrate the first installation at The Yorkshire Clinic, FUJIFILM Healthcare UK hosted a special opening event to mark the important milestone. Ryan Sparks, CEO, Bradford Football Club and Davide Longo, General Manager, Bradford Football Club joined the occasion and opening of the room.
Commenting on the event, Alison Knights, GDPR/Medical Records Clerk shared, "It was fantastic to see so many partners come together for this milestone. The support from Bradford Football Club and FUJIFILM demonstrates how healthcare and community can work hand in hand to improve wellbeing. This installation isn’t just about technology - it’s about creating a positive impact for patients and the wider Bradford area."
