fatPointer
The content on this page is intended to healthcare professionals and equivalents.
Body Fat Measurement
There are two types of obesity - visceral fat obesity and subcutaneous fat obesity and both can be determined with abdominal CT images. Visceral fat obesity leads to high risk of diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and lifestyle-related diseases hence early detection through medical examination is increasingly important.
Visual Explanation
The fatPointer displays the regions of visceral fat and subcutaneous fat in different colors.
Details can be shown visually for easy understanding compared with conventional explanations with values.
Low Dose, High Quality Imaging
By using the non-linear noise reduction filter - Adaptive Filter, image processing is done with reduction in image noise while keeping the resolution level. As a result, analysis with a high precision is possible when scanning with low dose.
One Click Analysis
By simply clicking on any point of the image, the area of visceral and subcutaneous fat, area ratio, and abdominal circumference (CT) are determined automatically. Time-consuming processes such as recognition of the fat area, separation of the visceral/subcutaneous fat area and calculation of the area/area ratio are fully automated.
User-friendly Report Functions
Patient’s past examination results can be retrieved and added to current examination report, and this allows user to see the variation of visceral fat and subcutaneous fat at a glance. Analyzed images can be generated in color DICOM format, BMP format, and analysis value in the text format (CSV).
Analysis Results
The following values are calculated from the abdominal CT image.
- Visceral fat area [cm²]
- Subcutaneous fat area [cm²]
- Total fat area [cm²]
- Abdominal circumference(CT) [cm]
- Visceral fat/Total fat ratio
- Subcutaneous fat/Total fat ratio
- Visceral fat/Subcutaneous fat ratio
