FUJIFILM Australia announces new Chief Executive Officer

Fujifilm Australia welcomes Michio ‘Mich’ Kondo, joining Fujifilm Australia in August 2025.

Sydney, Australia – 7 August, 2025 – Fujifilm Australia is pleased to welcome a new CEO to our team. Mr. Michio ‘Mich’ Kondo will join Fujifilm Australia from 4 August 2025. He will be based in Macquarie Park but will manage Fujifilm’s operations across Australia and New Zealand. Mich Kondo replaces CEO Richie Matoba, who is moving to Fujifilm North America.

Richie Matoba served as CEO of Fujifilm Australia for the past three years. His leadership has helped Fujifilm Australia consistently grow and make meaningful contributions to the local community. During his tenure, Fujifilm Australia launched the new House of Photography store in Sydney. We installed the first Aperto Lucent Open MRI machine outside of Japan at Altus Medical Imaging in Gladesville, Sydney NSW. Fujifilm Australia also launched an innovative campaign, creating the world’s first printed memories, and celebrated our 20th anniversary, among other achievements.

Prior to joining Fujifilm Australia, Michio Kondo (Mich) served as Managing Director at Fujifilm Canada for three years, Fujifilm Turkey for three years, and Fujifilm Middle East Africa for six years, overseeing local subsidiaries in each country and territory. He has contributed to the growth of the Medical Division, Photo Imaging Division, and Graphic Division in diverse markets such as North America, the Middle East, and Africa. He has also focused on creating growth synergies through the expansion of the product portfolio following the integration of Hitachi's Medical Division and on developing new business opportunities through the launch of the Office Printer Division. Mich is eager to leverage his experience to contribute to the further growth of Fujifilm Australia.

Alex King, Division Manager, Human Resources and Corporate Communications, said, “We’re incredibly grateful to Richie for his leadership and innovative thinking over the last three years. With Mich joining the team, we hope to continue innovating with customers and partners in the region, while supporting our community with new technology.”

In preparation for starting in Australia, Mr Kondo said “I’m excited to get to know the local team and customers in Australia. Fujifilm Australia has a strong history of innovation, and I’m looking forward to continuing this trend.”

Fujifilm Australia celebrated our 20th anniversary last year, an event that highlighted our shared history of innovation and creativity in Australia. Our group purpose of Giving our World More Smiles helps Fujifilm Australia concentrate on the collective good we can achieve within our region.
