SYDNEY, 15 JANUARY 2026 – FUJIFILM Australia Pty Ltd announces the launch of the new "Fujifilm SX400" (SX400) as part of its SX Series lineup of lens-integrated long-range cameras. The SX400 will be available from early February 2026.
The SX400 is equipped with the newly developed F2.8 lens optimised for high-performance imaging in low-light environments. The SX400 suppresses noise that occurs when sensitivity is increased, enabling clear imaging of subjects even at night. Supporting a 1/1.8-inch effective image size*1, the SX400 covers a wide focal length range from 12.5mm wide-angle to 400mm telephoto with 32x optical zoom, while maintaining a compact body measuring 302mm in length and weighing 3.9kg. In addition to traditional fixed installations for monitoring borders and ports or inspecting infrastructure, the SX400 flexibly meets diverse needs, including mobile deployment on vehicles and ships, and temporary installation at construction sites or event venues for surveillance.
Long-range cameras are widely used for surveillance of borders, forests, airports, ports, highways, and more. Their role in remote infrastructure inspections has grown due to labour shortages and aging facilities. Fujifilm first introduced the SX Series in 2019, combining its expertise in optical and image processing technologies. Current models include the Fujifilm SX800, featuring a 40x zoom covering 20mm to 800mm, and the Fujifilm SX1600, covering a range from 40mm to 1600mm. Renowned for their fast and precise autofocus and stabilisation systems, the SX Series excels at capturing clear images of subjects even several kilometres away.
The SX400 incorporates Fujifilm’s advanced optical technologies, refined through the design of 4K/8K broadcast lenses and cinema camera lenses. Its bright F2.8 lens enables clear, low-noise imaging even in dark environments. By integrating the camera and lens into a single compact unit, it achieves 32x optical zoom (12.5mm–400mm focal range) while maintaining a lightweight, portable design. This versatility makes it suitable for surveillance in locations where fixed installations are impractical, including disaster sites, crime scenes, and event venues.
Fujifilm remains committed to developing innovative products that meet evolving customer and market needs, utilising proprietary optical technologies and advanced image processing adopted from the GFX and X Series digital cameras.

Key features of Fujifilm SX400
Combined 32x optical zoom with a compact body (302mm in length, 3.9kg in weight)
- Equipped with a 32x optical zoom lens covering focal lengths from 12.5mm wide-angle to 400mm telephoto (horizontal FOV: 31.8°–1.0°), the SX400 achieves a compact body measuring 302mm in length and weighing 3.9kg. This enables not only fixed installations but also mobile deployment on vehicles and ships, as well as portable surveillance and inspection systems.
Equipped with the brightest F2.8 Lens in the SX Series for clear night-time imaging
- The SX400 features the brightest newly developed F2.8 zoom lens in the SX Series. Fujifilm’s proprietary optical design enables the lens to maintain F2.8 brightness from 12.5mm to 200mm focal lengths, delivering clear, low-noise images even in dark environments.
High-performance image stabilisation system for advanced vibration control
- Fujifilm’s proprietary stabilisation system offers cooperative control of optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS) to reduce blurring caused by vibrations or wind when shooting at long distances. It detects and compensates for even subtle movements with precision, enabling steady footage.
- The stabilisation mechanism adopts Fujifilm’s proprietary "ceramic ball roller system," minimising friction resistance during stabilisation and achieving high responsiveness and durability. In addition, high-performance gyro sensors detect minute vibrations without time lag, enabling precise correction.
Fast and accurate autofocus capable of attaining focus on a subject in just 0.1 second
- The SX400 features a rear-focus mechanism that drives lightweight lens groups for rapid focusing. By combining on-sensor phase-detection autofocus (AF) for speed and contrast AF for accuracy, it achieves focus as quickly as 0.1 second, ensuring subjects are captured instantly and sharply.
Heat haze / fog reduction function for added clarity
- The SX400 is equipped with advanced heat-haze and fog-reduction functionality. Fujifilm’s proprietary image processing technology reduces visual distortions caused by airborne particles, temperature differences, or haze, ensuring clear visibility. This system enables high-quality imaging even in foggy or hazy environments that would typically impair visibility. Combined with a built-in visible light cut filter, the SX400 enables clear imaging even in foggy or hazy conditions.
Significant reduction in installation effort
- The SX400 integrates the lens and camera into a single unit, removing the need for adjustments like optical axis alignment, flange-back calibration, and colour fringing (magnification chromatic aberration) correction. This simplifies pre-installation work. Furthermore, with power and control systems consolidated at the rear of the camera, complicated cable connections are eliminated, making the installation process significantly easier.
