Fujifilm Partners with World Cancer Day 2024 for a Healthier Future

TOKYO, October 23, 2023 – FUJIFILM Corporation (President & CEO, Representative Director: Teiichi Goto) has announced its partnership with World Cancer Day 2024, a global initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)*1.

Every year on February 4, World Cancer Day brings together people around the world to unite in the fight against cancer. With almost one-third of all cancer-related deaths deemed preventable*2, widespread screening, alongside early detection and access to treatment can play a pivotal role in the fight against cancer. However, access to essential healthcare services remains a significant challenge, with nearly half of the world's population unable to obtain the care they require*3.

Fujifilm is addressing these pressing issues through various initiatives, including the development of products and services that contribute to the improvement of global health, the provision of technical diagnosis training in mammography and endoscopy, and the promotion of effective healthcare practices through "NURA" health screening center’s focusing on cancer screening*4 in emerging countries. The company steadfastly continues these endeavors with the aim of making meaningful contributions to a global society where everyone has access to the healthcare they need.

Teiichi Goto, President and CEO, Representative Director of FUJIFILM Corporation, says:

“‘Health’ is one of the priority areas within Fujifilm’s Sustainable Value Plan 2030. We are dedicated to addressing various social issues, with a particular emphasis on enhancing access to healthcare services and facilitating early disease detection. In collaboration with UICC, through World Cancer Day, we highlight our commitment to ensuring patients, wherever they live in the world, receive timely cancer diagnosis and treatment – and proudly advocate for the widespread benefit of doing so.”

Dr Cary Adams, CEO of the Union for International Cancer Control, says:

“We're thrilled and deeply thankful for Fujifilm's support for World Cancer Day, a global health awareness initiative that resonates with millions worldwide. We expect that Fujifilm will provide not only resources but also be a highly active and enthusiastic partner, helping to drive a campaign that is meaningful and with wide-ranging impact.”
