FUJIFILM Launches Dynamic Surface Pressure Sensor System “FUJIFILM Prescale Motion”

Real-time visualization of dynamic changes in pressure
Combines static and dynamic pressure data to provide one-stop support for pressure inspections in development and manufacturing

TOKYO, September 7, 2026 – FUJIFILM Corporation announces the launch of “FUJIFILM Prescale Motion” (“Prescale Motion”) a dynamic surface pressure sensor system that visualizes in real time how pressure is applied from the start to the end of a pressurization process. “Prescale Motion” will be available from September 7, 2026, in Japan.*1

Fujifilm offers “Prescale,” a pressure measurement film that turns red when pressure is applied and visualizes differences in pressure through variations in color density. Together with “FUJIFILM Prescale Mobile(“Prescale Mobile”)*2,” a mobile app that analyzes color images produced by “Prescale” and quantifies pressure data, these products support highly accurate pressure measurement and evaluation across a wide range of manufacturing fields. While “Prescale” and “Prescale Mobile” visualize and quantify pressure at the point of maximum pressure to obtain static pressure data, “Prescale Motion” visualizes changes in pressure during the pressurization process in real time, enabling the acquisition of dynamic pressure data.

As manufacturing processes become increasingly sophisticated and requirements for quality assurance and traceability continue to grow, demand is increasing, particularly in the semiconductor, electronic component and battery industries, for identifying abnormalities that occur during a process and determining when pressure variations arise, which can be difficult to ascertain solely from the pressure distribution at the point of maximum pressure. In semiconductor wafer polishing processes, for example, it is necessary to monitor changes in the contact conditions and load between the polishing head and wafer. This has created a need to measure and record changes in pressure between the head and wafer over time, from the start to the completion of polishing. In lithium-ion battery manufacturing and evaluation processes, batteries repeatedly expand and contract during charging and discharging. Measuring and recording the resulting changes in pressure can therefore support quality control and safety evaluation.

“Prescale Motion” is a system that combines a pressure distribution sensor, consisting of dedicated film and a controller, with a mobile device*3 on which “Prescale Mobile” is installed. The system visualizes in real time how pressure is applied from the start to the end of a pressurization process.
By combining dynamic pressure data obtained with the pressure distribution sensor and static pressure data at the point of maximum pressure obtained with “Prescale” and “Prescale Mobile,” users can quantitatively evaluate pressure from both static and dynamic perspectives.

Fujifilm will continue to leverage the technologies it has developed over the years to support the creation of high-precision, efficient inspection workflows on the manufacturing floor and to promote the digitization of operations, thereby contributing to improved inspection efficiency and strengthened quality control at our customers’ manufacturing sites.

  • *2 A mobile application that quantifies pressure from the color-developed image of "Prescale" using Fujifilm’s advanced image processing technology. By placing the developed "Prescale" on a dedicated calibration sheet and scanning it with a mobile device installed with the app, users can easily obtain 13 types of pressure data such as maximum/minimum pressure, average pressure, and pressure area. This simple workflow enables anyone to perform high-precision pressure inspection with ease.

1. How to Use “Prescale Motion” and Product Configuration

Use of “Prescale Motion” requires the purchase of a “FUJIFILM Prescale Mobile” license and a dedicated “Prescale Motion” extension license. Customers who already use “FUJIFILM Prescale Mobile” can use “Prescale Motion” by purchasing an extension license set.*4

  • *4 Customers using the one-year version of “FUJIFILM Prescale Mobile” may use “Prescale Motion” only during the valid license period of “FUJIFILM Prescale Mobile.” To continue using the system, customers must renew the one-year version or purchase the perpetual license version.

2. Main Features
(1) Combines static and dynamic pressure data for more advanced pressure inspections

By combining the static pressure data that can be measured using the existing functions of “Prescale” and “Prescale Mobile” with the dynamic pressure data obtained using the “Prescale Motion” pressure distribution sensor, users can evaluate not only pressure distribution at the point of maximum pressure but also changes in pressure throughout the pressurization process.

“Prescale Motion” is the world’s first*5 pressure distribution sensor system that enables the integrated analysis of static and dynamic pressure data.

Each sheet of dedicated film is assigned its own calibration file. By downloading this file to “Prescale Mobile,” users can begin inspections without having to perform complicated calibration procedures, ensuring a smooth pressure inspection workflow. The film can also be detached from the controller, allowing users to replace only the film while continuing to use the same controller.

  • *5 According to Fujifilm research.
(2) Greater convenience through wireless connectivity

“Prescale Motion” uses a wireless connection(BLE) between the pressure distribution sensor and mobile device, allowing the system to be used in more flexible measurement environments.
