Ratingen, Germany, August 31, 2026 – Fujifilm Europe is once again participating in the charity rowing regatta “Düsseldorf am Ruder für Menschen mit Krebs” (Düsseldorf at the helm for people with cancer), which will take place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, in Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour. For the third consecutive year, Fujifilm colleagues will take to the water, combining sporting engagement with solidarity for people affected by cancer.
Fujifilm will participate with two company rowing boats and sponsor two additional boats: one from Team Rynkeby, Europe’s largest cycling initiative supporting cancer research in children and young people, and one from the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer (Deutsche Stiftung für junge Erwachsene mit Krebs), a central point of contact for young adults aged between 18 and 39.
The regatta brings together companies, organisations and members of the public to raise awareness of cancer and generate funds for cancer support services. The proceeds will support the work of the Cancer Society of North Rhine-Westphalia (Krebsgesellschaft NRW e.V.), which provides free information, advice and support to people affected by cancer and their relatives.
Raising visibility for young adults with cancer
Fujifilm’s participation in “Düsseldorf am Ruder” forms part of its continued collaboration with the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer and TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf. In June 2026, Fujifilm renewed its donation of €15,000 to the foundation for the second consecutive year.
TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf provides young adults affected by cancer with a safe space to connect with others in similar situations, exchange experiences and find mutual support. The meetings are organised and supported by people who have experienced cancer themselves, following the foundation’s guiding principle: “by those affected, for those affected.”
The German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer will also have an information stand at the event. Visitors can learn more about the specific challenges faced by young adults with cancer and the support available through TREFFPUNKT Düsseldorf, a meeting place for young adults affected by cancer.
“The TREFFPUNKTE are places where young adults affected by cancer can meet people who truly understand their situation. Sharing experiences, supporting one another and realising you are not alone can make an enormous difference. We are very happy to be part of ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder’ again this year. The event shines a light on the challenges young adults with cancer face, and we are grateful to Fujifilm for helping raise awareness of this important cause,” says Janine Schulze, coordinator of the German wide project TREFFPUNKTE.
Commitment on and off the water
For Fujifilm Europe, “Düsseldorf am Ruder” combines active participation with social engagement. The company’s rowing teams contribute to the sporting atmosphere, while the regatta raises public awareness of cancer and funds for people affected by the disease.
“Social commitment lies at the heart of our purpose, ‘Giving our world more smiles’. ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder’ is a powerful example of how people and organisations can come together to raise awareness of cancer and support those affected. We are proud to participate for the third consecutive year and to stand alongside the German Foundation for Young Adults with Cancer and the other organisations involved in the event,” explains Masataka Akiyama, President & Managing Director, Fujifilm Europe GmbH.
Fujifilm’s engagement in the regatta is part of its broader commitment to improving health and well-being. Alongside its social initiatives, Fujifilm contributes to the fight against cancer through medical imaging technologies, endoscopy solutions and AI-supported diagnostic tools. The company is also a global partner of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), supporting efforts to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment worldwide. By combining healthcare innovation with community engagement, Fujifilm aims to contribute to greater awareness, improved cancer care and meaningful support for people affected by the disease.
