At FUJIFILM Business Innovation, we released our first self-developed multifunction device in 1973.We later began to develop unique environmental technologies that enable both high energy efficiency and usability-, including reducing standby power consumption and the Smart WelcomEyes technology.We have received the Energy Conservation Grand Prize 14 times in Japan (industry record, according to research by FUJIFILM Business Innovation).
We reduce the CO2 emissions from the use of our products by developing energy-efficient products. In recent years, we also provide solutions that enable diverse work styles, reducing the movement of people and goods to help customers reduce their environmental impact.

IH fusing technologies that enable quick heating to eliminate the necessity of preheating in standby or power-saving mode to conserve energy and increase convenience.
It has a fusing temperature that is around 10 °C lower than that of the EA-Eco toner. This results in lower power consumption.
Use of LEDs as the image forming unit enables space and energy saving design and ensures high image quality.
It is an automatic sensing technologies that wakes up a multifunction device from sleep mode when it detects a person about to use the device. This both conserves energy and increases convenience.
The technology performs a detailed control of electrification to only power the required parts according to the functions being used to conserve energy and increase convenience.
The circuit technology ensures there are no problems when the CPU is powered off to massively reduce the power consumption of multifunction devices in sleep mode.
For the Apeos C320 z, which we released in April 2021 in Japan, we worked to reduce the number of parts and reexamined its design and layout. As a result, we succeeded in reducing its weight by 30% and its volume by 40% compared to conventional devices.Reduction of the number of parts and the weight of materials has also enabled the reduction of CO2 emissions.
We promote environmentally conscious products by rating our lower environmental impact products (multifunction devices, printers, and production printers) based on criteria applied to the entire Group under the Fujifilm Group’s Green Value Products certification program.
In addition to multifunction devices and printers, solutions and services also lead to environmental conservation by reducing the movement of people and goods. Therefore, we also certify solutions and services under the Fujifilm Group's Green Value Products certification program, thus contributing to customers regarding both work styles and the environment.
We disclose data on the CO2 emissions of some multifunction device and printer models throughout their lifecycle, from the procurement of raw materials to their production, distribution, use and disposal, via Japan EPD Program by SuMPO.

In recent years, amid the increasing seriousness and frequency of weather disasters, local governments are pressed to prepare for contingencies by establishing a system for promptly evaluating damage and making appropriate judgments to protect the safety of residents and help them put their lives back in order.However, in past disasters, including major earthquakes, there were cases where it took several months before victims were issued certificates.
FUJIFILM System Service noted that the reason why operations for issuing victim certificates took so long was that they involved many troublesome manual processes done by humans using paper forms.The company developed a new application supporting official surveys certifying the damage to homes leveraging its knowledge of local government operations which it gained through many years of experience supporting local governments.By digitalizing all of these processes, FUJIFILM System Service helps improve the efficiency of local government operations.
Towards the decarbonization of society, we have continued to engage in activities with the goal of achieving the Fujifilm Group's target, "Reduce the Fujifilm Group’s CO2 emissions by 50% by the end of fiscal 2030 (compared to the fiscal 2019 level)." These activities include introducing energy-efficient equipment at our development and production sites, reviewing our procurement and production processes, developing energy-efficient production technologies, and conducting examinations to introduce these technologies to our production lines.
In July 2022, we installed approx. 8,000 m2 of solar panels at the FUJIFILM Eco-Manufacturing recycling site in Suzhou, China, and began operating the solar power generation system.This system is capable of generating approx. 90% of the electric power consumed at the site.
We will continue to sequentially introduce renewable energy to our production sites.
We are reducing the consumption of electricity, cold water and steam by changing temperature settings and the duration of the nighttime operations of the air conditioners in the laboratory and other rooms and by installing LEDs. As a result, we achieved a 536-ton reduction of total CO2 emissions.In recognition of these initiatives, we received the 7th Yokohama Global Warming Countermeasures Award in Japan.
At FUJIFILM Business Innovation, we have been promoting our own employees' reform of work styles and advancing the elimination and consolidation of offices and the utilization of satellite offices.This has reduced CO2 emissions from our offices and also reduced CO2 emissions from the movement of our employees.
Our engineers in the Tokyo Metropolitan area visit customers for maintenance and inspection using electric vehicles, shared bicycles, and vans for the transportation of consumables, which reduces CO2 emissions.
Initiatives by employee volunteers through the HASU Club
The HASU Club is a volunteer organization of people working for FUJIFILM Business Innovation and its affiliates and people who have retired from the companies. It is operated by the members voluntarily and independently. The Natural Environment Group of the HASU Club engages in tree-planting and environmental protection activities in various places in Japan.
