Approach to Environmental Sustainability

In January 2022, FUJIFILM Holdings announced new climate action targets to reduce COemissions as it accelerates initiatives towards a zero-carbon future. Fujifilm Group will be fully operating on carbon-free energy and achieve net zero COemissions by the Fiscal Year ending
March 2041 (FY2040). It will also reduce COemissions across the entire product life cycle from the procurement of raw materials to manufacturing, transportation, use and disposal by 50% (compared to FY2019 levels) by FY2030. To achieve these targets, Fujifilm launched a new Fujifilm Group environmental strategy, "Green Value Climate Strategy", which includes promoting "Green Value Manufacturing" - a strategy to manufacture with a lower environmental impact, and delivering "Green Value Products" with excellent environmental performance.

Fujifilm Group "Green Value Products" Certification Program

This certification program sets certification criteria by product category with different weights according to the use and features of each product through its entire life cycle. We clarify the environmental value of each product by conducting environmentally conscious design assessments based on such certification criteria at the time of product development. We then select candidate products for certification based on the total score by each assessment item. The candidate products will be reviewed and approved by the Group Certification Council, and finally certified as the Fujifilm Group "Green Value Products".

This certification program is implemented in compliance with the requirements of the international standard "ISO14021 Self-declared Environmental Claims" and obtains the opinions of external experts in order to ensure the objectivity, reliability, and transparency of the program. When we introduced the program, we obtained advice from Professor Norihiro Itsubo at the Tokyo City University.
