Fujifilm Launches “FUJIFILM Prescale Station”

New system enabling seamless capture, analysis, and storage of pressure measurement films
Accelerating digital transformation in pressure inspection to enhance efficiency and quality control in semiconductor and battery manufacturing

In recent years, as manufacturing processes have become more sophisticated and demands for quality assurance and traceability have increased, the number of pressure inspections in manufacturing processes—especially in the semiconductor and battery industries—has risen. This has led to a growing need for efficient and highly accurate pressure measurement.
Fujifilm has maintained a leading global market share with “Prescale,” a film that visualizes the balance and distribution of contact pressure and surface pressure between objects. When pressure is applied, the film turns red, and the density of the color visually indicates the magnitude of the pressure.
Leveraging the unique ability of “Prescale” to visualize pressure, Fujifilm has developed “Prescale Station,” which enables quantitative analysis of pressure information.
“Prescale Station” reads the color patterns on “Prescale” film using a high-resolution FA camera and built-in LED lighting, and efficiently analyzes and stores pressure data*3 through a system design that integrates Fujifilm’s advanced image processing and optical technologies.
This product was developed to meet the needs of users who face challenges with workload and judgment accuracy in sites where numerous pressure inspections are performed daily. By simply specifying the measurement area*4, the device displays analysis results for up to 10 items*5, including maximum, minimum, and average pressure, as well as pressure area. Up to 35 measurement frames can be analyzed at once, making it suitable for large-volume pressure measurement.
Furthermore, “Prescale Station” is designed with internal LED lighting and optical shielding to maintain a stable reading environment, ensuring consistent measurement performance even under yellow-light conditions. These features work together to enhance inspection efficiency.
Leveraging the expertise the company has cultivated over the years, Fujifilm will continue to support the construction of high-precision and efficient inspection workflows in manufacturing sites and promote digital transformation, thereby contributing to enhanced inspection efficiency and strengthened quality control for customers.

2. Main features of “Prescale Station”
(1) Seamless operation - capturing, analysis, and storage—visualizing pressure with a dedicated image analysis system

“Prescale Station” reads the developed color on “Prescale” film with a high-resolution FA camera and enables analysis and storage of pressure data on PC (Supported OS: Windows). With a high reading resolution of approximately 0.12 mm, even subtle pressure distributions can be visualized in detail. Pressure irregularities that are difficult to detect by visual inspection can be clearly identified both numerically and visually.

(2) Stable reading environment and efficient workflow with automatic judgment

The system’s optical shielding and design ensure a stable reading environment unaffected by lighting conditions. By eliminating the influence of external light, consistent pressure measurement is possible every time. By setting threshold values in advance, the device can automatically judge pass/fail based on set criteria. Up to 35 measurement frames can be automatically assigned within the image, enabling simultaneous analysis of multiple areas. This prevents variation in human judgment and supports the efficiency and standardization of inspection processes.

(3) Ensuring reliable traceability through data storage

Read images, analysis images, pressure maps, and measurement results can be saved to PC, supporting management of inspection history and preparation of quality assurance. Saved data can also be linked with internal systems or cloud system, further strengthening quality management systems in manufacturing sites.
