Our target is improving access to medical services by using medical AI technologies to introduce our products and services to all 196 countries in the world by fiscal 2030. We have introduced them in 100 countries and achieved our target for fiscal 2023.
Fujifilm Group is developing AI technology under the brand name of "REiLI" that can be used for diagnostic imaging systems and medical workflow streamlining. And we are working to solve issues in the medical field through co-creation with academia in worldwide.
Together with external organisation, we have successfully developed an AI technology to support diagnosis of interstitial pneumonia in 2019. In 2024, we developed a technology for predicting the risk of falls in outpatients using AI technology, and we also worked with external organisations to build a next-generation cloud management platform for the Japanese Medical Image Database (J-MID). J-MID is expected to enable the registration, reference and search of high-speed medical images from anywhere in Japan, and to promote research and development of AI technology for diagnostic support using medical images

The Fujifilm Group has prioritized to end tuberculosis (TB) in recent years. TB, AIDS, and malaria are considered to be the world’ s three major infectious diseases. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 set a target of “ending the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases by 2030” under Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing.
TB is estimated to kill over 1.5 million people a year worldwide. Many people in emerging countries in Asia and Africa in particular are at high risk of infection and severe illness due to inadequate access to medical services. To help address this social issue and save the lives of as many people as possible, the Fujifilm Group is strengthening its efforts to support the early detection of TB through diagnostic screenings in emerging countries by providing compact and portable X-ray equipment.
We believe that improving medical technology is just as important as promoting the use of our products in each country in order to improve the medical environment in emerging countries, and we are providing the following types of support, such as human resource development and the promotion of medical check-up habits.
-
From 2020 to 2022, we implemented a project to promote the use of ultrasound diagnostic imaging systems in Kenya by training local doctors in the field of perinatal care*1.
-
In 2023, we provided training in the latest medical technology to around 500 radiology technicians and medical students in several Egyptian states.
-
Based on the above achievements, in 2024, we signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Egyptian Unified Procurement Agency for Medical Products and Medical Technology (UPA) to provide a training programme to develop cutting-edge image analysis and diagnostic technology and improve the capabilities of Egyptian medical technicians.
-
We have promoted a project to demonstrate the spread of TB screening using X-rays in India.
We will continue to promote various activities to improve the medical environment in emerging countries.
- *1 Perinatal field:The perinatal field is a medical field that covers the management of mothers and fetuses during pregnancy and childbirth (from 22 weeks of pregnancy to less than 7 days after birth) and the management of newborns after birth.
